Looks like they yanked him.

Final line is 2.2 IP, 10 hits, 2 walks, 3 Ks, 2 HRs and 11 ER. Dear god.

Good thing the Jays invested so much money into that lab. It's really paying dividends.

It's a lab, not a genie.

Maybe they are doing some perverse form of exposure therapy

They were trying a confidence-building “throw your fastball down the middle over and over, even if you do that what’s the worst that could happen?”

Except it backfired spectacularly with terrible BABIP luck

I heard Recker got a voodoo doll of Manoah that's the reason for his decline.

Manoah gained 50+ pounds from college to now in just a few years. That’s going to mess with your ability no matter what. He was a top prospect and mostly complete pitcher 50 pounds ago and until he realizes that I wouldn’t hold out hope.

He must be working on a change up or something. There's no way he can be going for results.

You could tell the batters what's coming and it would be difficult to get hit this badly. There is something wrong with Manoah.

Exactly. Even if an 18 year old kid with little professional experience knew exactly what was coming a Cy Young finalist should not get hit this badly.

Steve Phillips said he gained weight but he thinks he lifted more weights and gained more muscle mass in his upper body this past offseason. This tightened his arm action and lead to a decline in his stuff. No idea if he knows what he's talking about but it does make some sense.

Hmm...maybe...but I find this hard to believe. He is still kind of dough boy like up top. His arms don't look like Spencer Strider's legs.

Well it makes sense, bigger guys can hide a lot of muscle mass under their fat. But the statement is still specualtion to a degree.

Talked to a couple people who had eyes on Alek Manoah’s Florida Complex League outing today and there’s not much positive to report that would say ignore the ugly line. Wasn’t great.

We may still be at ground zero.

He was at this weight during spring training and pitched well enough to convince management to make him the opening day starter.

Manoah needs to get back to looking like this.

He's literally twice as big now. How do we end up with 3 obese, useless f***s on this team.

Its kinda sad Manoah genuinely looked like he would be reliable rotation arm for a long time.

People are too nice and accepting of fatties in sports. It's embarassing.

So Manoah was 140-150 pounds in college?

If you think Manoah isn't well over 300 you're fooling yourself.

This man is 6'6"

I never understood why players change ANYTHING about what they’re doing if the results are good, especially pitchers. Like how Strasburg hurt his back lifting weights. Like bro??? Just maintain Your current body if its working. CC Sabathia tried losing weight and it made him pitch worse. You gotta keep what’s working.

I have no doubt the guy is pushing 300 pounds, but it seems just a little over the top to suggest that he's twice the size he was in college.

He really does look much more fit and athletic there. As a young professional, there really isn't an excuse. He, Vlad and Kirky all battling the flop sweat.

That was a dumb decision over Gausman before he even threw a pitch in the Spring I thought.
