Exactly. Don’t sit there then. They built the space behind the bullpens just as they built family friendly areas.

As long as fans keep it clean it’s free game. Comes with the territory. Imagine what outfielders have to listen to at Yankee Stadium.

Like if some 24 year old on Saturday afternoon wants to tell

Colin Poche his fastball sucks ass why would we want to stop that?

This is perhaps a good way to look at it. By making this area, all the douchebags who want to tell Colin Poche his fastball sucks ass to cover up their own insecurities can all hang out in RF and jerk each other off after their super clever chirps. That way the rest of the stadium doesn't have to be near them. I like it. Good call by the Jays. I retract all my previous posts about this.

On a personal level, I’m with you, I could never be that guy heckling. But as others have said, as long as the language is clean, it’s part of the experience sometimes. Actually to tell you the truth, sometimes that’s the thing you remember most of those normal middle of the season games, years after the game lol.

Like remembering that drunk guy yelling Swissshhhhhhhher over and over to Nick Swisher. I can’t remember much about the game other than that

I know you’re being sarcastic but it’s true. What type of fans would that sort of environment attract? The ones you’re describing. Like when that dude was hanging over the rail barking a few games ago. I think it’s lame and wouldn’t do it but that’s a part of live sports and you’re always going to have those guys.

I'm all for a funny heckle about the guy going back and playing hockey. But my douchebag meter must be set higher than you guys - I think you're a douche if your best chirp is to make fun of a guys socks, or to yell "that's another ball" at a pitcher warming up. Bring your A game and be funny, or STFU.

As long as its kept clean, I don't have an issue with it. As well, that comes with the territory when you buy bleacher seats or in the outfield. Plus 40K fans per game, you're bound to have a bunch of ones you find annoying. Like others said, go to Yankee Stadium, or Wrigley Field or Philly and it's probably a lot worse.

I just can't fathom being an adult and deciding - you know what I'm going to do that this baseball game? I'm going to to yell "OMG that was slow", "that was a ball" and "that's a walk baby" at guys in the bullpen and then laugh with my friends like I'm so clever and funny. Does this adult think he's actually giving the Blue Jays a competitive advantage with that incredible heckling? I sure hope not. Those chirps are f***ing embarrassingly s*****. If that's the best you've got - sit the f*** down and shut up. Nobody in your general vicinity wants to listen to you.

And of course I think it's fair to say fans won't always keep it clean, because, well, humans suck. Now my 7 year old has to listen to some drunk ******* swearing at a reliver for no good reason (I guess in this adults head, he thinks he's giving the Jays this major advantage, but he's not - he's just making an ass out of himself).

Now if you're Bobby Fairways and your heckling is funny - I'm cool with that. The fans will get a charge out of it (the pitchers may too), but this was SUPER cringy to me.

I went to a Jays/Sox game at Fenway in the mid 90's. We had tickets right next to the Jays bullpen and they got heckled all game.. It was a little more harsh because it's Boston, but for the most part it was funny. That is, until the Jays took the lead later in the game and some drunk dude poured a beer over Danny Cox's head. It looked like he was going to explode with rage.

Damn Brownie19 went full Abe Simpson in this thread. Heckling is apart of the sport and always will be. That section is only going to heat up the more important the games get. But yea I wouldn’t recommend bringing Children into that section. No matter where you go through your going to run into loud mouth idiots.

Yeah I’m not sure one area is better than another for heckling. I always sit close to the field and that’s where you get the hipster hecklers (with some beers in them) in their 20’s that paid a little more for a good seat

We took our grandaughters to a mariners game when they were about 7 and 5. We were sitting in the 100’s and it was packed with Canadians. A couple of 20 year olds were screaming at Mariners , not just heckling, but really, foul and abusive stuff. They thought they were funny. Standing on the backs of seats screaming. It was embarassing and you could see how most sitting around us were uncomfortable. My girls were upset and security just stood there watching this display. Finally my 60 year old hubby stood up and told them to shut up and sit down .

They actually did and one turned around and apologized. But to this day those girls remember that game . So sitting in a certain section doesnt negate the chance of running into idiots. Security should have stepped in.

read an interesting article about Anthony Bass ripping the airlines for not cleaning up after his kids and making his pregnant wife do it. If she can't handle the kids, don't travel with them. Just lost big respect for a Blue Jay. Too entitled.

Haha yeah I don't think posting that ended up going the way he thought it would. He comes across pretty entitled and out of touch.

I most certainly am, but I think I've always found people who choose to act that way to be douchebags. Some guy yelling "that's another ball" to some RP who's catcher still isn't even crouching isn't funny and has never been. It's also not going to 'throw him off his game' either, so it's f***ing pointless and you look like a wannabe heckler.

Exactly what I thought. Guess he wasn't flying first class.

He probably also heckles RPers at baseball games with knee slappers like "you suck", "cccchhhhaapppmmannnn" and "that's another ball". What a DOUCHEBAG Bass is.

Why isn't he cleaning it up if his wife is pregnant?

I would guess he wasn't on the flight in question.

Apparently he was. Somewhere in the article I read it said the couple was travelling with their children if I'm not mistaken.

Edit:

A Toronto Blue Jays pitcher is calling out United Airlines after he said the airline made his pregnant wife clean up a mess on her “hands and knees” made by their two-year-old daughter while on a flight.

Anthony Bass said on Twitter Sunday that the interaction took place between a United Airlines flight attendant and his 22-week pregnant wife, as the couple was travelling with their two daughters, who are five and two.

“The flight attendant just made my 22 week pregnant wife traveling with a 5 year old and a 2 year old get on her hands and knees to pick up the popcorn mess by my youngest daughter,” Bass wrote.

“Are you kidding me?!?!”

Ah I hadn't read the article in question. After reading it I'm not sure what to think, I honestly have no idea who is ultimately responsible for cleaning up messes on an airplane when a kid spills some food on the floor. It seems a little odd to me to expect a paying customer to clean their own mess up but I'm really not up to speed on how airlines typically handle this.

Well. Airlines do have crews that come on between flights to clean and sterilize the plane. I have a friend that works on one of these crews.

How would Bass be on a flight in the US with his wife and kids on Sunday, when he was in uniform in Toronto? It was posted at 10am on Sunday the 16th.

The story writer probably wouldnt have thought about that and just assumed they were all travelling together.

Don't know....I didn't really do any forensic accounting of the date/time. Just took it at face value.

There are a lot of variables that could be at play here. Did the kid just drop the popcorn by accident? Or was the kid misbehaving and throw the popcorn around? Did the flight attendant already clean up one mess caused by them? All we currently have is one side of it from someone who wasn't there.

I’m not sure a flight attendant said: you need to clean that up.

What exact danger was the popcorn causing?

It’s more likely the wife asked and the flight attendant was dismissive bc that’s what the cleansing people do after…and the wife said she’d just do it

Flight people don’t want you getting out of your seat when it’s not necessary, so I call bs

I hope he’s getting roasted for it more than not

So are we getting a cool city connect jersey or is ours that hideous Canadian red jersey.

I always get a laugh when people try to use social media to rag on another person or business but it just exposes how entitled/wrong the person complaining is.

With that said, if Anthony Bass getting cancelled leads to Pearson finally being on the big league roster, then I'll take it.

He brings home the bacon. You want him to cook it too!?
