VP Baseball Strategy from the Astros??? Sounds SUPER DODGY.

He'll be head of the team in charge of which garbage bins the Jays will purchase

I wonder how Ross Atkins feels about this.

Imagine if:

- the Marlins get Groshans to hit for some power

- and Moreno is a stud in year 1

- and Frasso becomes a top ~50 prospect this year

How could you NOT fire Atkins? haha

It's already looking like Mitch White will not be Ross Stripling.

Holy f*** you are a nutbar... Talk about trying to swing a discussion to your own agenda. Long walk...short pier (don't forget your steel toed boots) yah f***ing fossil.

You mix some valid points (Kirk has earned the right to be with his family) with psycho s*** about taking it up the ass if you aren't capable or willing to win in a capitalist environment...

Steel toed boot jobs keep you fed, provide you shelter and produce your energy. The world as we know it wouldn’t exist without them.

Extremely premature

Mitch White is not good. Ross Stripling had a history of being effective in a variety of roles. Mitch White is a warm body that at best will chew some innings of a 4.5 ERA

I just talked about how everyone who mentions the garbage can with Click deserves to be kicked in the nads! He was in Tampa in 2017.

Now take your kicks like a man...maybe we'll bring in L54 and his steel toed boots band of merry men for this one.

I would think positive. I see this as an Atkins replacement if the Jays continue with success and he moves to another team as President (especially if his hometown of Charlotte gets an expansion team).

Blue Jays GM Ross Atkins says he began talking with James Click about a possible role in the club’s front office shortly after Click's Astros departure. Click had other options over course of the winter but ultimately chose to join the Blue Jays.

Atkins says Click won’t have a primary focus (scouting, development, etc.) within Blue Jays front office for now. He'll spend time with various department heads over coming weeks and months to get a grasp of how the club operates and how he can contribute going forward.

Atkins: "We're just really excited that he chose us. To get an objective view of things we're doing well, things we could be doing better, is really exciting. We feel very good about where we are as an organization — but we're always trying to get better."

Interesting. I read this initially as a pure Shapiro hire

As long as I don't have to hear "Gee, I hope the Jays suck" or "I hope those moves Atkins did don't work out" just to get him fired. Similar to the comments we saw the last few years with Montoyo. I'd much prefer the Jays win 100+ games, win the World Series and Atkins get signed to a 10 year extension than any other scenario this year.

No doubt.

Really the only super fair criticism of his offseason is Atkins curious lack of virtually anything in the left handed reliever role. Mayza is far from elite and right now in camp there's nothing but has-been's and minor league invites. But beyond that, he's addressed every single need the Jays had from last season.

Love the fresh start of ST and we have a WBC this year. Its great to see what Kooch is throwing and Pearson go upstairs to K JD with 101...the new rules impact etc etc.

But holy f*** the Spring narratives are nauseating 2 games in. I have to mute sound. Makes me crazy.

As these commentators struggle to fill airtime now, as 3 weeks into the season this will all be a distant memory.

Remember '22 Greg Bird? By contrast Matt Carpenter was nowhere last Spring and had a 217 wRC+ during the actual season with the Yanks.

I was talking to my friends about how the pitch clock will impact the broadcast. Less dead time to tell stories (or for Buck to tell us things that simply aren't true) - which some will probably miss. I think it may help as with less dead time to fill (while the batter scratches his nuts and adjusts his batting gloves), the broadcast crew will be able to stick to their 'A' material.

That's probably why Tabler got the axe.

By the time Tabler got done with his physical description of the batter an entire 5 pitch AB could be over.

"Just look at this guy."

Strike 1.

"He's got biiiiig....giant forearms."

Strike 2.

"And biiiiig....broaaaaad shoulders."

Ball 1.

"And look at his back, Buck. He's stroooooong."

Foul ball.

"This guy just looks like a professional..."

Ground ball to second thrown out at first.

"....hitter."

“Just look at that nut scratching aggression. He worked on scratching his nuts in winter ball. He has come into this spring much more determined to scratch his nuts well this season and I’m certain he will.”

More like Ben Cherington I would think. Click would go to Nashville with Mattingly.

Lol. The Spring Bird discussion, analysis and roster prediction…..then poof.

Hit 2 home runs off AAA pitchers in Spring Training and then got cut from Scranton midseason. Not even sure he's in professional baseball anymore.
