Berrios had certainly the worst opening day start in Blue Jays history

He got one out and gave up 4 runs, right?

Oof I thought it was like 7 but I don’t really remember

Septum for women seems more common these days. Less common to see it on men though

Oh I believe it, dating apps these days are filled with hordes of jezebel women who have septum piercings and tats everywhere. YUCK.

I find it strange that the majority of people who get those piercings have a huge nose. Why draw more attention to it?

Daring you to comment so they can be confrontational about it.

He seems like a weird dude, but a septum piercing is pretty mainstream these days, at least in my circles. I don't have one (thought about it), but have my tongue and used to have my nipple done.

I saw this after my post about dating apps. Didn't want you to think the two were related lol.

I knew you were more of a rocker type of guy and that makes sense. It's def more in now, not necessarily among MLB players though and he does seem crazy when he's warming up and on the mound. I do like him though he's one of my favorite players.

ItÂ’s simply a small subset of African Americans and doesnÂ’t apply to all people with black skin. DonÂ’t be so sensitive. Many of those NBA guys came up through challenging backgrounds and were exposed to the rap culture meaning of success and what you do when you get there

I think 80% of NFL players are bankrupt or in dire straights 2 years after retirement. 65% of NBA players within 5 years. Some is bad investments IÂ’m sure but also living a certain lifestyle contributes to it.

Regardless, they still find the time and effort to play their respective sports. ItÂ’s what they love and what they know

Look, the mods took care of it so I don't want to extend this conversation any more than it has to, but hopefully the value of my post is seen and is left up as a final word.

The regulars here know that I lean to the right politically. I'm not down with woke culture or whatever and not particularly sensitive. But I think I represent a pretty fair line in the sand where if you've crossed it, you said something worthy of general condemnation. I'm a conversative. I wish more people would see the way I see the world and therefore become conservative. Especially in POC communities where I know there are a ton of people who hold generally conservative values (personal responsibility type of values). You know how NOT to grow the conservative community? By making unfounded generalizations about a group of people and generally acting like an *******. And then going around like a whiny fascist throwing a tantrum after isolating people (not saying connor or anyone here has done this, but in general there are people like this out there who have). Behave like a decent person and more people will think like you. I am a conservative and I want us to win and I'm telling you our best shot at doing so. Yeah this forum is a cesspool and we all say mean things to each other because it's fun (especially dunking on Jim). But I have a feeling you take this part of your attitude to real life as well.

If 80% of NFL players are bankrupt after two years maybe it has more to do with them being knocked on the head having CTE, unable to pay bills from other medical costs resulting from their football careers, and not having access to any sort of pension because they didn't meet the playing time threshold. Rather than skin colour. That is, if your numbers are even remotely accurate.

As an important secondary point, I recall you getting railroaded for multiple pages on something about postseason play and how teams need big time sluggers a few days ago. The general conclusion was that you were pulling ideas out of your ass based on a tiny bit of anecdotal evidence. This type of analysis that you do likely led you down the same path as this thug post.

What I can say about Romano just by looking at him is that he must either have the absolute best or absolute worst taste in music.

Rap music, lol?

I know where the 80% number came from, it was an "estimated" number from a Sports Illustrated article in 2015 that said:

"Although salaries have risen steadily during the last three decades, reports from a host of sources (athletes, players' associations, agents and financial advisers) indicate that:

• By the time they have been retired for two years, 78% of former NFL players have gone bankrupt or are under financial stress because of joblessness or divorce.

• Within five years of retirement, an estimated 60% of former NBA players are broke."

Not exactly a solid number, but probably not that far off from the truth. Full article here: https://vault.si.com/vault/2009/03/23/how-and-why-athletes-go-broke

I've been playing in bands for close to 30 years, and at least in that scene the septum piercing was actually more popular about 15-20 years ago than it seems to be now. My bassist is a tattoo artist, so I might see a disproportionate number of people from the body modification community than even others in the music scene, but it seems to be a lot more about tattoos than piercings these days.

Tool is a bit of an interesting case. It's a gateway that could go either way. I personally find Tool's music boring and overrated and Maynard James Keenan to be the absolute biggest douche in the rock world outside of actual predators. But not all Tool fans are automatic toilet drinkers. Some of them can be. Knowing Tool at least means the person probably has some basic knowledge of actual bands and music. Let's just put that one as a warning sign but nothing definitive can be concluded.

The septum has spread through genres over the years it's widely used in all walks of life musically. IMO, also, I think Romano rocks it!

I find it lame when people knock other genres and music taste, to each their own right?! TOOL are a good band by the way.

Tool is also suuuuuuper popular with other musicians for obvious reasons. I love Tool (to the point that I hired the woman who produced their first 2 albums to work on a project of mine a decade or so ago) because Danny Carey is one of the best drummers on the planet, and their production is absolutely stellar.

Hey well you are talking to a guy who finds this to be entertaining, high quality music:

Finally something we can agree upon. Just busted out undertow yesterday actually and it really holds up.

Everytime I try to listen to Tool, I inevitably get bored after a few minutes.

They’re super technical and great musicians, but it feels like they have 0 passion about what they’re playing. Like its so over-thought that its lifeless.

Im more into the prog-metal/newer metal bands on the scene now. Northlane is doing some interesting stuff

This might be the single greatest thing I have ever seen in my life. I have no notes whatsoever.

Vlad jr just signed for 14.5 m to avoid an arb hearing. He was Arb 2 and is a Super 2.

Others that are/were arb eligible:

Arb 2- Jansen, Richards, Bo, Mayza, Biggio.

Arb 3 - Cimber

Arb 1 - Romano, Varsho, Espinal, Swanson and Thornton.

Espy, Varsho and Biggio are all Super 2s as well.

If someone else can reply and fill in who has signed, that would be super too.

If he has a good season he'll be geting Soto money next two years like 20-24M then 26-30M

At what point do you say f*** it and just do the 300M extension

Posted (edited)

14.5 + 22.5 + 28 is 65M right there

And he'll end that season at age 26

I would hate to miss out on his age 27-33 seasons
