Should’ve been in on Cody Morris

Yeah he would've been a decent pickup.

I kind of thought we should have picked up Cal Quantrill too.

He's got options but he's projected to get 6.6 mil in arbitration. That's pretty pricey for a fringe arm like that but he's about a 1 WAR SP right now and with our elite defense I think he would be a decent fit with his pitch to contact skillset.

We've got a glut of marginal infield talent as well as infield prospects so hopefully we can use some of that to get some SP depth.

Stroman on a Bassitt type of contract would be solid. He's usually pretty durable and consistent from a performance standpoint. Whether the Jays should be adding another $20m AAV starter is the question.

I have nothing against Stro. I'd gladly take him back on the right circumstances. We need a frigging bat. Our 7 8 9 hitters are Varsho, IKF, KK. That's hot garbage. Can we please sign Hoskins or JD Martinez pronto.

Please stop panicking. They are far from done. On another note, f*** no to Stroman or Anderson. I will not support the team if they add a bunch of clowns to the locker room.

Belt was signed late in the offseason last year. Don’t worry

Still need to address the rotation depth though IMO. Can’t assume all 5 guys will be healthy and effective for the whole season.

For sure but we need to spam minor league deals to a bunch of fringe starters and hope 1 or 2 of them pan out as average. This is where Mitch White could have helped but we all know how that's gone so far...

White ended the season really strong in AAA so at least there's hope he could provide some innings as a swingman next season. Ross Stripling also struggled quite a bit in his first few seasons after being acquired so hopefully White can also experience a similar resurgence next season.

For sure. Has there been any word on whether we plan to extend Pearson again to be a starter in AAA?

I haven't heard anything myself but I would guess that ship has sailed by now. I thought he was primed for a breakout season as a multi inning reliever in 2023 if he finally managed to stay healthy. He at least managed to avoid injury for an entire season but his off speed command was completely non existent and greatly limited his usefulness as a member of the bullpen. The stuff is still top notch but he needs to start controlling it if he has any chance to be anything other than a depth reliever.

Pearson is just so damn good when he’s on. Those few outings last season when he did command his curve he was utterly untouchable.

Him being a SP is a pipe dream for sure. Hell, even him being a bulk reliever would be fantastic right now. The talent is so obvious, but the consistency is nonexistant

The plural version of those words makes it so much worse. Goes from "Yeah some 21 yo dating a 16 yo, that was normal in America 50 years ago" to "Subway Jared" pretty fast.

I still think Mitch White will turn out to be decent depth, but I don’t wanna go into the season with Manoah as the #5 and White as the #6

White doesn't have options so if he's to stick around at all he needs to be on the major league roster in some capacity. He's almost like the defacto number 6 starter unless he's traded away. Perhaps the team could sign or trade for a 5th starter type but with the other more pressing needs on the roster I'd much rather see any available trade and financial assets be expended on position players. Manoah's early projections are not terribly inspiring but I have a really hard time seeing him being anywhere close to as bad as he was in 2023, there almost certainly must have been something physically wrong with him to see the stuff and command crater so dramatically.

Would be nice to have a season where 1 of our starters doesn’t completely fall apart

Mitch White is very bad pitcher now, he should never be in lineup again with the jays, unless we rebuild and want lose many games so can have better draft picks . In such case, he should play almost daily😄

We came close last season, other than Manoah. Good thing Ryu came in and pitched alright afterwards in his 11 starts.

It's going to be tough to expect the same results in 2024 from everyone in the rotation.

The Jays have generally been pretty lucky over the last several seasons and as a franchise with respect to starter pitching performance and health. There should be no complaints on this end from anyone.

Some progression, some regression. Just saying would be nice if one guy didn’t completely forget how to pitch. 2021 Stripling was awful. 2022 Berrios and Kikuchi. 2023 Manoah

Still no update on whether Wander showed up for his 11 am summons today?

Translated - Wander Franco does not respond to the summons of the Attorney General's Office for alleged relationship with a minor

Also, his lawyers have stated they have been terminated

He's in the weeds, on the lam
