So what's your point? His wife is expecting any day now. If I were a father, I would want to be there for the birth of my son or daughter.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 6, 2023 Posted September 6, 2023 Stanton 400 HR's Worth 42.7 fWAR over 14 seasons but hasn't had a season WAR over 3 since 2018 Could he become the first 500 HR player to NOT make the HOF??

With his annual injuries, For Stanton to get to 500 HRs he’ll have to play at least another 4-5 seasons. I doubt that happens but if it does and he crosses 500 HRs..he probably makes the Hall.

Altuve homered off him twice and he couldn't get out of the second Ffs Altuve homered in each of the first 3 innings. That's insane.

The assumption being Arod, McGwire, Sosa, Manny, Sheffield, Palmeiro and Bonds eventually make it in?
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2023 Posted September 6, 2023 The assumption being Arod, McGwire, Sosa, Manny, Sheffield, Palmeiro and Bonds eventually make it in? Yeah - there are several players with 500 home runs who aren't in the HOF...
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2023 Posted September 6, 2023 Altuve homered off him twice and he couldn't get out of the second Ffs Altuve homered in each of the first 3 innings. That's insane. I love how Altuve has told everyone to suck on his big fat juicy cock since the cheating/buzzer scandal. He's been better offensively in 2022 and 2023 than at any other point in his career.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2023 Posted September 6, 2023 I'd just like to say that I was a big fan of targeting Dylan Carlson and Alek Thomas this past offseason and would like to thank the Jays FO for not listening to me at all.

Part of me thinks Alek Thomas is who the Diamondbacks were trying to sell to Toronto. There is a chance that Kirk for Thomas was on the table. Or, lmao, maybe they wanted Moreno for Thomas+. I think this is the case because the inclusion of Gurriel as a kicker makes it seem like getting the Diamondbacks to even put Varsho on the table was difficult.

Yeah good thing we held out for the 27-year-old with the 82 wRC+ instead of settling for the 23-year-old with the 76 wRC+. That could have been a disaster. I'm kidding but only sort of.

Would love to actually know what other deals were proposed/close. And how close we were on Nimmo for example. So many moving parts… there’s a scenario where we sign Nimmo and trade Kirk instead, hold onto Moreno. It just sucks that Varsho AND Kirk have been underwhelming this year which makes the trade look worse in hindsight

There’s still definitely the possibility of him being a 100 wRC+ bat playing elite D in CF for the next few years

I think this is the case because the inclusion of Gurriel as a kicker makes it seem like getting the Diamondbacks to even put Varsho on the table was difficult. Good point. Jays probably didn't want someone as raw and inexperienced as Alek Thomas, and preferred a bat who had success at the MLB level. Arizona wanted another MLB bat to replace the offensive contributions they would lose from Varsho. LGJ was expendable.

There’s still definitely the possibility of him being a 100 wRC+ bat playing elite D in CF for the next few years I'm still hoping he is a 4-5 outfielder for this team in 2024 and 2025. Willing to give him a mulligan on this season, but if he struggles again in 2024, he might only be just a 2-3 WAR outfielder and not as good as we all thought. Even in 2022, you can find some concerns with his bat.

Even in 2022, you can find some concerns with his bat. I think with his current bat Varsho is still likely a 3-4 outfielder if he spends all of his time in center field next season. A lot of the low FWAR value this season appears to be due to how poorly Varsho rates in left field according to Statcast which Fangraphs uses for their range values for outfield play. Baseball Reference uses DRS for it's defensive value and Varsho is sitting at 3.2 BWAR at the moment.
Ehjays Verified Member Posted September 6, 2023 Posted September 6, 2023 Julio Urias arrested for domestic violence. https://twitter.com/JeffPassan/statu...47733987803274 That is now the second time in his career he's picking up a similar charge. You really should have learned your lesson after the first, and his history is going to be super relevant to the case and to what MLB and the Dodgers do. Nice lookin girl.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2023 Posted September 6, 2023 Nice lookin girl. A guy offered me Urias for Alcantara in one of my Fantasy Leagues.... I thought long and hard about it and ultimately declined the trade. Last night I was thinking thank God I did, especially since it is now the playoffs. Then this morning, Alcantara goes on the IL, so I am f***ed either way... LOL
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2023 Posted September 6, 2023 Urias is lucky to have a bombshell like that with his f***ed up eye. If you didn't know, you might think she's the one who's slugged him a few times.
