Tony Fernandez was hitting .414 on June 21 in 1999.

Was hitting .400 as late as June 28. Ended up hitting .328 that year.

Its just way too difficult to sustain .400 over 600 plate appearances, or even .350 for that matter

And Arraez doesn’t have the speed to beat out those infield hits

Haha... he was inducted to the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame, my ex-Blue Jay bro's were at the ceremony. Barfield from the Jay's was inducted too.

Yeah I have a buddy who I coach with who got to meet Barfield, Olerud and Fergie. I think he met Olerud's wife at the airport and drove her to the ceremony or something.

Yanks perfect game

Dude has been caught cheating twice already this year (only suspended once)

I have 0 doubt he was cheating tonight too. Sure Oakland sucks but still.

Yankees get away with anything and MLB turns a blind eye

Gave up 15 ER over 5.1 innings spanning his last 2 starts …. Then throws a perfect game.

Is it weird?? Or did he go those starts with no sticky stuff and then said f*** it and started cheating again?

It's kind of ridiculous the rule has the umpires check their hands after pitching an inning rather than before he throws the inning. In the jays game, it was clear he wiping before getting to the ump. Even without that, a fair amount of the tack is going to end up on the baseballs.

I dont know, maybe. Below first is the game he was suspended for... spin rates. Following that are his last two starts that he got dumpstered.... then the perfect game.

Why was he cheating in the first place if it had no tangible affect on his spin rates or break on his pitches? Unless of course [puts on tinfoil hat] he never stopped cheating!

Cohen with a beauty of a quote yesterday in his press conference:

"It's on the players," Cohen said. "I can't pitch. I can't hit."

It could very well be that Oakland just sucks combined with he had a great night.

However the previous suspension for cheating calls everything into question. And given the fact we know he’s a PoS, i’m not giving him the benefit of the doubt.

Remember the time he first got checked by the umps but wasn’t suspended??? Yankees fans swore up and down that people were being unfair, the umps would have tossed him if it was warranted. Then a few weeks later he gets tossed for cheating.

Honestly fair and reasonable. They’re getting paid millions to underperform

Also this nugget. "“They’re veterans. They’ve been there before. We’ll see if they can get their act together and string together some wins. We’re hoping for the best.” Nice.

He also threw some shade at previous ownership for not having invested in a pitching lab and how their player development is way behind other teams...and other stuff, all of which is also true.

Padres are in free-fall. Just got swept by the Pirates. They’re at 37-44 now, 11 games behind on the division and 8 of the wildcard.
