White Sox did win the World Series in 2005, with a very solid team. They had maybe a few decent years after as well. But they've also had a lot of awful seasons thrown in there.

Rays have been perennial contenders with one of the lowest payrolls in baseball since 2008. Overall, the Rays are a far better organization in terms of drafting, scouting and player development. White Sox don't compare.

Aren’t you a closet Rays fan? They have Longoria, who didn’t make it through the deal and who else?

Longoria was still a solid player even during his later years with the Rays.

Overall since 2008 his rookie season, he provided 48.1 WAR during his time with the Rays. They just shipped him off to the Giants at the right time.

Seven afternoon games today, is there a particular reason why that would be so?

Yeah it's annoying. Getaway days for teams who played on Monday I suppose.

Really you only get majority of night games on Monday and Tuesday now. Kind of sucks. Don't recall it ever being this bad. You would have Thursday afternoon games usually.

Yeah it definitely seems a lot more common now. I can't imagine it being beneficial for attendance unless they are all used as school day games or something.

Yeah I know. Maybe one or two school days haha but not every week.

Also annoying for fantasy baseball. Gotta check your lineup pretty much all day.

Looking at the MLB Team Pitching Stats... it sure don't seem like Schneider has the quick hook as suggested on this forum, Jays lead the league in QS, IP/GS. 5th in PIT/GS... I remember a few early hooks I wasn't pleased about, but they were really early in the season. This is a fallacy, leave Schneider alone, lol...

When you see who owns the White Sox, it probably shouldn’t be a huge surprise.

I hate the Rays with a passion but they just signed Franco to a massive deal before he had a year of service. I mean that deal is still going to be a steal for them but $182m guaranteed is a big commitment for a team like that.

Huge commitment, but if he lives up to it the contract is a steal and provides easy trade bait for them in the future.

I don't think you can judge it by innings per start alone. That can be a tool, but having watched each game, I think it's fair to say that he's cost us at least one win with bullpen mismanagement and early hooks.

I brought up 3 statistics, it's not alone? I also mentioned a couple of early hooks and the BP, did you even read what I mentioned? Look at the pitches per start and the rest of the rankings over 80 pitches. He hasn't been that guy he's pegged to be by this forum, is all I'm saying.

Yeah

You can look at Franco's contract and see exactly when they are going to trade him already. Just as he starts making 25M per season.. .

You can't do this without also considering games where an early 'hook' may have contributed towards winning the game.

On this episode of “Cleveland develops another homegrown ace”….

And this is after Logan Allen debuted this past week as well. Both college arms drafted in the 4th-5th rounds who zipped through the minors with absurdly high K-rates.

Honestly comical how the Guardians keep doing this.

Fair enough, but I find that to be a little more speculative and difficult to assess than the few games where he has pulled a cruising starter with a low pitch count, only to have a reliever cough it up.

Looks like Robbie Ray is done for the season. Needs Flexor Tendon Repair surgery (absolutely brutal injury).

Thanking our lucky stars he was unvaccinated and we chose to sign Gausman instead.

Yup, it's season ending, sucks for them, welp!

Feel terrible for Ray

And so happy Gausman took our money first

Cause I was happy with either one at the time

I think Judge went down hurt today also while trying to steal third. He was out on the play and got up and ran right down the tunnel.

I thought he came back out? Yeah, he continued to play.

Jays only have 2 blown saves all year. No reliever has coughed up a lead after the starter was cruising. The blown saves were both in wild games, one of them by Romero.

The only thing that comes close to this is the Saturday game where Manoah was pulled in a 0-0 tie. A 0-0 tie with the home team coming up in the bottom of the 8th is a game the Jays only had a 40% chance of winning, so even in that situation he didn't "blow" a game, but 40% of a game. And that is silly. Teams aren't going to win every close game.

Jays are actually letting their pitchers go further in games than most other teams.

The team that lets their pitches not go far at all is called the Rays. And that approach seems to be working for them.

Jordan Walker sent down?

Is there more to the story? He was hitting .274 with great exit velocities, apparently not the greatest d, and not huge power despite the exit velocity.

Vlad would have been sent down several times in 2019 and 2020 if they had decided to send him down when he was about where Walker is right now.

Their bullpen is also a lot better than ours tho

The blown saves is a misleading stat.

There were games and will be games where we were only down 1 or 2 or tied and the pen turned it into a blow out. Successful teams have pens that keep it close and give the offense a chance to win. None of those poor performances show up as BS/S/H stats etc...
