Definitely. The team needs a serious change in the clubhouse, but he wasn't given the opportunity to make that change. I thought he made the most of the time he did have.

Give him the reins all season. Let him set the tone from spring training onwards.

Not sure why they haven't announced it yet though. Maybe they are talking to Tito.

I've cooled off a bit after Game 2 so I won't call in a bomb threat to Rogers Centre if they bring him back (I definitely would have before!) but I'm still pretty pissed off.

Not really sure who would be better as Schneider seemed pretty good in the regular season. If Francona could be enticed I'd consider it but he didn't exactly light the world on fire in his series with the Yankees.

So I see that you're a fan of managers that fold under the pressure of the playoffs. Interesting...

Well, ya... this was too easy man, Francona's never coming here.

Schneider is on record as being a fun loving guy who embraces having fun while playing baseball. He is the guy who implored the players to celebrate clinching a wild card berth, and the same guy who has done things like bring in clubhouse DJ's to keep the players loose. If you expect some sort of seismic clubhouse shift under his rein I suspect you are in for some disappointment.

He has made it obvious that on-field blunders due to lack of hustle/head not being in the game will not be tolerated, but there is no indication whatsoever that he intends to change the overall culture of how the team operates off of the filed whether in the dugout or in the clubhouse.

Mo says Schneider is coming back

I think 3 years is unnecessary but ok

All the bigger Jays news seem to be broken by media outside of Toronto.

Well they just fire him if he sucks. The term is irrelevant really. His salary is probably inconsequential.

I'm not concerned with the outward appearance of what goes on in the clubhouse. I'm concerned with effort and engagement on the field and how he deals with that behind the scenes when there is a problem. John Gibbons was fun loving and open to celebrations too. I'm ok with that.

Some small improvements appear to have been made during his short tenure, but I think that change has to be made by the GM. Many of these players clearly aren't serious about winning a championship and they have to go. A manager can't change them.

Manager to me is the least important boss/coaching job in all the major sports.

Be respected, and do a good job with your BP (Which is already being taken care of by Pete Walker).

With a full spring training and off season Schneider will be fine next season.

If Dallas Green, Ozzie Guillen, Bruce Bochy and Bob Brenly can win a World Series we are fine with JS.

Just curious who isn't serious enough for you. You state "many" players need to go, who in your estimation fits into this group?

Given that a huge portion of the team appears to be not very "serious" in the dugout during games, and many of these players are part of the core group, you make it sound as though the team essentially needs to be blown up.

Holy f*** are we back discussing clubhouse culture and a bunch of s*** that we have very little, if any, information about? Awesome.

Grant apparently has the inside dope.

Anyone who watches the Blue Jays knows who these players are. Teoscar Hernandez consistently makes mental mistakes in the field and often doesn't run the bases hard, for example. We've seen the same thing from Guerrero Jr at times. You don't have to 'blow up the team'. I never suggested that.

You guys think I'm talking about making smoothies in the dugout or something when that isn't it at all. Having fun isn't a problem in my view.

Players need to be locked in and giving a full effort on the field. This team is very, very bad at it and it doesn't seem to get addressed. A player like Josh Donaldson (not him) is needed to demand a full effort from his teammates. The leadership void left by Marcus Semien was never filled and it was extremely evident.

I’ve seen more than a few games this season in which we were getting our ass’s kicked and the camera would pan to the dugout and you would see the a couple guys in the barrio laughing and smiling like it was no big thing. Always the usual suspects. Intensity level zero. The only time they had some real emotion was when Vladdy had words with Pivetta from the dugout and the benches cleared against the Bosox. Yeah, we’re not in the clubhouse but you dont have to be to see the lackadaisical approach. Maybe it is a byproduct of young players groomed by bongo boy. Who knows but it has to change. If it doesn’t this team won’t win with the current personnel. Edited by Omar
