max silver Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Likely depth starter/long man for the rest of the year. Curious to see who is sent out for this acquisition but this looks like a very nice depth pickup.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 White is a better pickup than Thor IMO
Maahfaace Verified Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 He made 10 starts this year for the Dodgers? I thought he only made a spot start back in May lol
Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Did I see that the Jays traded Frasso in this deal? What the f***?
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 The numbers and velo tick up in the bullpen, could be an effective reliever with ability to start
Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Did I see that the Jays traded Frasso in this deal? What the f***? lol. What did you think was going to happen? The SP market has been insane.
Slade Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Frasso is really the only good prospect we gave up and he's a few years away anyways. The Merrifield deal is good with Samad Taylor and Max Castillo going the other way.
RustyTrombone Verified Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Frasso is not a few years away lol with his stuff he could have easily made an impact in the bullpen this year, or 2nd half of next year as a starter. He was going to move very quickly.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 White gonna be > Thor and has 3 years of control if I'm reading it right
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 SP depth but might also be reason to think he can be more impactful in shorter stints. Don't mind this one at all. Frasso seemed like an interesting arm to possibly try and accelerate up to help the pen, but he's also 23 in A ball.
Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 lol. What did you think was going to happen? The SP market has been insane. That maybe the Jays would keep one of the few SP prospects they have with high velo and swing and miss. I like adding White, but hate losing Frasso

BTS Community Moderator Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 White might actually be pretty useful

I like adding White, but hate losing Frasso I know but that's what you have to give up. If Syndegaard went for Moniak, that should set the idea of market. White is under control until 2026. Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Hate trading Frasso for White unless Jays see something they can maximize
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Another reliever that doesn't strike anyone out. And Nick Frasso has struck out everybody this year. This one could hurt.
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Frasso is not a few years away lol with his stuff he could have easily made an impact in the bullpen this year, or 2nd half of next year as a starter. He was going to move very quickly. Yep, not a fan of this. He was going to be Top 100 by end of the season guaranteed.
RustyTrombone Verified Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Front office must absolutely love White I guess This only makes sense if you see White as a long term fixture in the rotation.
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Can someone post White's numbers as a reliever?
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Did I see that the Jays traded Frasso in this deal? What the f***? Yep, it's horseshit. Atkins should lose his job this offseason if we don't make a run. If you're going to give up Frasso, you better give up more than that and get something significant to put us over the hump in the post-season. White, as many have mentioned, is Strip 2.0. This return is a nothing burger and we lose a future Top 50-100 prospect, and potentially higher, if the results keep going. Frasso throws Upper 90s with great control and great secondaries, and, most importantly, misses a ton of bats.

He was going to move very quickly. Frasso turns 24 in less than 3 months and he's in High A. He's pitched a grand total of 41.2 innings in his career. His stuff is very promising, but he's not an MLB starter next year lol. Mitch White is a solid MLB pitcher with ~4 years of control left. The prospect they got back with him is also a real prospect. Again, the Jays are very good at evaluating their own prospects. They definitely traded something to get something in this case, but this isn't a pull-your-hair out type deal like you're making it out to be. This actually kind of looks like a scaled-up version of the Stripling trade where everyone panicked and thought we got fleeced because we sent Kendall Williams to the Dodgers.
InsideThePark Verified Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Not a fan of losing Frasso but the Jays filled the 4 holes they had with 2 guys with tons of term, Bass who has another year, Meh Merrifield, and got a lottery ticket prospect back and all they gave up of value was Frasso and the corpse of Groshans. Castillo, Beasley, and Taylor were 40 man/rule 5 fodder, and Brito is a complete young 1 in a million prospect. Hopefully these are 3 less holes the Jays have to fill next offseason/deadline. It's the opposite of flashy, and I really hope they don't regret giving up Frasso. Flashy would have been fun and possibly more effective this year but as a whole it seems pretty decent.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Mitch White is litterally a swing man. Sure lots of control but hes so f***ing boring. Why are we trading guys big arms that could be moved fast to the bullpen to help out next year. Like it just isn't a good transaction. Especially when you know the Dodgers are willing to do it. We some how came out of this trade deadline with less swing and miss in the future lol. Even Max Castillo was atleast striking out more than a batter an inning lol.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Frasso is 23 years old in A-ball. The Yankees just traded 3 Nick Frasso's and all they got was a half season of Benitendi. Mitch White is a 27 year old pitcher who looks like a decent backend SP and has 5 years of control left after this year. De Jesus is a fringe prospect and Brito is a nobody.

Difference here is Nick Frasso is a hell of a lot better prospect than Kendal Williams was. How much you wanna bet Frasso makes his debut for the Dodgers before next September?
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 But who knows I wasn't a fan of the Stripling trade either. Kendall Williams has been pretty meh in the minors so far despite having an electric Fastball. Hes still only 21 though.
