Schneider can't come back into that clubhouse. Even if Atkins wants him to. He lost the respect of the players today. He has to be done.

I think he lost the respect of Pete Walker too. Did you not see Pete Walker storm out of the dugout and down the tunnel when Schneider was going to pull Berrios. Petey was pissed.

One thing we know, there is no f'ing way Gibby takes Berrios out

I wouldn't mind seeing Gibby back. He wasn't the most analytics manager but he was good for player morale. Jays just seemed demoralized all season... despite often being right in the mix. It was a weird vibe

The dismantling of the barrio? The removal of the HR jacket and the seeds guy? Having a manager with the personality of a trash can?

Interesting point and you’re right. Schneider would have lost the dugout/clubhouse like he would have last season.

Did not know that Pete was pissed. Maybe he will leave bc he doesn’t like all the analytics.

He literally took Dickey out in a similar situation where Dickey was pitching a shut out, coming off a 2015 season that was somewhat similar to Berrios's 2023, and replaced him with David Price.

One difference was it was a 5-0 game I believe. Price pitched bad and made it 5-3 but Jays won I believe 7-3.

Second difference was no one trusts an old dumpy knuckle baller, but everyone trusts a guy throwing 95 with sharp looking breaking stuff.

I think that decision may have been looked on historically very different if the offense only scores a run or 2 that game...

Or maybe not. It was different. It was Price who was the top pitcher in baseball that year.

Oh, I missed that going apeshit, lol.

That's why he walked away, said Front Offices have their hands in on everything.

True, different circumstances but yes I remember scratching my head over that move

Or maybe Pete likes analytics just fine, but recognizes the analytics didn't lead to the right decision in that moment.

Schneider absolutely has to go and there has to be some major changes to the coaching staff. There need to be some fresh eyes and voices on the hitting side because the results are nowhere close to the actual talent level of this lineup.

There is nothing wrong with analytics, but common sense has to come in when your No. 2 starter is dealing and who has looked his best all year! You didn't sign Berrios to a $130M extension in order to just pitch 3 innings in the Postseason FFS!

Pulling Berrios didn't cost the Jays the game. They still scored zero runs. But at the time of the decision, the Twins scored 2 runs. Regardless, a BS call by Atkins and this FO.

There's no feel, a disconnect, IDK. Pitching did their job, offense was simply embarrassing. Can't win a series scoring 1 damn run.

Pitching was fantastic over these two games and all season long. Lineup was embarrassing this series FFS! Major changes need to be made from the top down this offseason. Something is fundamentally wrong with this group and its been that way all season.

The comment below I posted on the last day of the season:

Quite frankly what worries me most about the Jays this post season is the in game tactics employed by one John Schneider. I honestly am not sure what to expect of him.

I now hate John Schneider with the fury of a thousand hot suns.

I really hope this was the last game we saw that bozo manage a game.

I like Kikuchi, I really do, but this is one of the worst moves in Blue Jays history. I say that before any runs score.

I was literally yelling at the TV: "WHAT THE F*CK ARE YOU DOING!?!? GO SIT DOWN!!! YOU IDIOT!!!"

In all my years of watching baseball, I've never seen such an idiot managerial decision. Never. This team's just a joke.

I don't really care if Schneider stays or goes. He's not the root of the problem, he's a puppet like all of them. Insert generic manager here. An empty shell with a hand up their ass. The real problem sits above his head.

Yes

Gibby has even said this in interviews as a reason not to manage again

I was hoping that seattle choke job was his last game as manager.

Alas…

Yeah, he talked about it in detail on his podcast. Miss that guy, loved him.

After listening to a lot of the players reactions it really seems like JD & RA have lost the trust in the dugout. Barrios can't trust John to make the right decision even if it wasn't John's final call.

I hope there was a good reason that Click and Mattingly were made part of the inner circle for a reason

I was at that disaster last fall haha. Glad the Jays were on the road this year for the WC. Like you, I wasn't planning on paying for tickets to see them in the WC this season if they were playing at home.

I thought Game 2 of last years WC was one of the worst managed games, but Schneider pulls it off again a year later in the exact same situation.
