What is the upside here for the Jays?

edit: other than giving the folks at sportsnet something to talk about.

Insurance - in case a starter gets hurt or falters - His numbers are actually quite good even with the dip in fastball and K numbers - doesn't walk many or give up bombs. He's been better than Berrios or Kikuchi this year so not a bad get if the cost is pretty low.

I feel their really in on Soto, and have plenty of deals set up. Like the most of MLB buyers.

Now you're talking. Let the Nats pick whatever 4 prospects they want. It's time to win the WS.

Did Atkins go on vacation or something? Brian Cashman and Aaron Boone are building a superteam and Ross Stand-Pat-kins is asleep at the wheel. WAKE UP ROSS. Put your team of nerds to bed, roll up your sleeves, grab a bottle of bourbon and start shipping prospects out for veteran talent ASAP.

Perhaps but I doubt it as a deadline type of deal. I could see them potentially working out a winter deal for Soto when they have time to address several needs and gear up for the upcoming season. Trading for soto right now isn’t the wisest move imo.

He's a perfectly fine backend SP who costs a ham sandwich to acquire. Him, Kikuchi and Stripling can handle the 4 and 5 spots and will also battle it out for the #4 SP spot in the playoff rotation. He's nothing special but provides what we need to make sure we get into the playoffs.

Back2Back!!!

Fleece the Nats for Soto, win 2 World Series with him and then flip him for prospects better than the ones we gave the Nats in the first place. This s*** is easy.

How can they do a winter deal if the Nationals are trading him in the next 18 hrs?

He's looked durable this year yes. I was hoping for something more though. We're in the playoffs regardless.

I dont like the idea of Thor or Iglesias, Both have velocity is down, in 39 games Iggy has 3 BS annd 6 losess. Im a hard pass on on Iggy, Thor not too sure about it.

I'm not sanguine on the thought of Thor as a Jay. I would take Iggy though.

Depends on the return, they can wait and get the entire leagues take on his value, he's gone, IMO.

I SWEAR TO GOD if Ross "Sit on His Ass"-Kins gets A SINGLE HOUR of sleep tonight he should be fired on the spot. I will buy one share of Rogers stock and will demand to see his cell phone bill at the next shareholders meeting. If I see anything even remotely resembling a break for sleep on that cell phone bill his ass will be fired on the spot after I call for a vote. WAKEY WAKEY ROSS it's time to start trading prospects.

And if they don’t?

Trade every prospect we have, who cares we can always get more. I guarantee you none of them will be as good as Juan Soto.

Prospect = Suspect.....until proven otherwise.

Eno Sarris did some recent analysis of Thor's stuff and it was not good at all, as in gotten worse. Beyond the V loss. I realize we would get him as a rental taking salary and giving a bucket of balls, but there is a good reason for that. I guess he would eat some innings but I don't see how it moves the needle.

Just send them the entire Buffalo team.
