Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 The Astros patched up their biggest weakness and have an insane lineup to match the pitching. Then you got the Yankees who were already better than us and just got even stronger by patching up their only real weakness. I dont see any realistic moves we can make that puts us on either of those teams level. We're almost at a point that we can only win if those teams encounter major injuries
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Is Atkins stocking up before gutting the system lol. Who the hell is this guy? Lol

Pretty sure people said the 2015 Jays were almost unbeatable and the Royals ran right over us. Dodgers powerhouse teams have been beaten multiple times by “lesser” teams (Nationals, Braves)

Baseball is pretty random when it comes to the playoffs so I wouldn't say it's impossible. Heck, coming into the season, people expected us to be where the Yankees are at. Ok maybe not that great but at least atop the division lol.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Who the hell is this guy? Lol Orgfiller.
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 In my world it is. Hope Shatkins can give me some relief within the next 21.5 hours lol.

Ehjays Verified Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Can we get Brett Phillips? Dude's a hoot.
jaysguy44 Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 DFA Zimmer, bring in Phillips!
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Love that man, especially when someone tells him a joke. lol
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 .475 OPS its kind of an embarrassment he was rostered as long he was.
jerb Verified Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Mark Feinsand @Feinsand San Francisco has been very quiet to this point leading up to the Trade Deadline. A rival exec is under the impression that the Giants are not going to trade Carlos Rodón, and it's possible they don't sell at all. Entering today, SF is 51-51, four games out of a Wild Card spot.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Skubal was just pulled. I read he had lower velocity so could be injury related?

This is what I figured they'd do.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Skubal was just pulled. I read he had lower velocity so could be injury related? His velo was fine... unless he throws harder than 93-94, I ain't going back to check. ETA: I did that's where he sits, but 77 pitches through 5 whilst winning isn't egregious with rookies this day in age, especially this close to the deadline.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 The Cardinals are finalizing a deal to acquire starter José Quintana from the Pirates, reports Jeff Passan of ESPN (Twitter link).
Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 With Dodgers, Padres, Mets AND the Jays not making a move, are we all in on Soto or something?
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Dodgers are in on Pablo Lopez…

Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Musical chairs and Jays might be left standing with nothing to sit on So poetic; should start a career in reporting.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Musical chairs and Jays might be left standing with nothing to sit on Unlikely, that has not been the history with Shatkins
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 What? Why? Because Jackie Bradley Jr sucks!
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 I dunno, Mancini isn't awesome He's still a solid bat who can play a corner OF/1B or DH with some pop. He hit 35 HR's with a .899 OPS in 2019. He'll fit well in Houston.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Mancini is good for what, maybe 1 WAR at most for rest of season? He'll hit well in Houston. Mancini hit 35 HR's in 2019 and his bat is starting to heat up. The Covid shortened 2020 season along with battling colon cancer, Mancini has gone through a lot the past two-three years.
