Yeah, one of Conforto/Brantley replacing Hernandez and KK essentially replacing Tapia would be a net positive and add much needed balance to the lineup. Only downside would be having to look for either 2-3 outfielders next winter (depending on the length of KK's deal) but I guess cross that bridge when you get there.

Any idea how good Varsho is as an outfielder and catcher? Maybe a trade of Jansen for him wouldn't be bad. That way Kirk could be regular C-dh and we'd have an emergency backup in Varsho. Remember Dale Murphy was once a catcher before moving to CF.

Brantley has been such a good hitter over the years, but coming off another shoulder surgery is a scary - especially since his power was already eroding so much pre-injury. It's scary for Conforto also, but I think he offers the type of upside the Jays could use (and with our depth, it's easier to sign a risk/reward deal). I worry Benintendi is going to turn his only good season in recent memory into a 4 year deal - so I'm out on him.

 

Conforto 2 Years, $30M with an opt out option after Year 1. It's really an ideal fit as we can offer playing time and a good home park to hit in.

 

I'm also curious what we think Eovaldi is going to get. Assuming we aren't giving Rodon 7 years $175M, than I think Eovaldi is a nice target. More upside than Stripling and we know he can pitch in the AL East.

I think this deal would be hard to make without including Kirk as a centerpiece, assuming the team has no interest in moving out Martinez or Tiedemann (Martinez I could see being traded given the hit tool concerns but Tiedemann should be next to untouchable).

Yeah they can take it year to year with corner outfielders. I have no issue with that.

 

Decent chance that someone like Barger/Orelvis/Horwitz/Brown emerges as an ostensible OF option at some point this year anyway.

This would be nice, but thinking about it, there is no way the Jays trade Bo until after they sign Vlad to a long term deal. If they move Bo before signing Vlad, the likelihood that he chooses free agency goes way up

Would love to take the chance on him, especially with the shifts going away. Upside is too great to not like him in a 3rd/4th OF role. For that reason, I'm guessing he'll get a decent offer from someone.

I'd much rather that offer be from a different team. The 35%k rate is so bad that he is nearly unplayable. Guys like Conforto, Benintendi and Brantley are much safer bets to not be total duds.
