Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2022 Posted September 17, 2022 what's the number for a guaranteed jays playoff birth As it stands, magic number is 13 to clinch WC for Jays (Os have 68 losses, we have 63 losses; 17 games left for us, 17 - 5 = 12, which is a tie - so 13). Any combination of Jays W/Os L equaling 13 will clinch it. For Seattle, its 15 | For Rays, its also 15. --- The magic number for Yankees to clinch playoff berth (against Os record): 8 The magic number for Yankees to clinch AL East (against Jays record): 13
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2022 Posted September 17, 2022 Sounds like he'll be back soon... The way Danny Jansen is hitting right now I don’t think it matters.

John Balkabella Verified Member Posted September 17, 2022 Posted September 17, 2022 Kirk unavailable for the 4th straight game now, I think? Anyone getting worried? Only thing I am worried about is that this injury robs him of his speed.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2022 Posted September 17, 2022 Sounds like he'll be back soon... I really hope he takes his fitness to heart this offseason. He could have an incredible career if he shaves down 30-50 pounds. Being a catcher with his build already in his early 20s (if not improved) is a near certain recipe for being out of baseball by 30.

That would be a great start. It all comes down to will power. He’s only going to be able to do it if he wants to. Nobody can force him. It starts with him. Luckily he’s very privileged as an athlete the Blue Jays would have no issue hiring both a nutritionist and personal trainer for him exclusively.

With all the contact he makes on the infield, skinny Kirk could be a future batting champion from increased BABIP alone.

That's the plan, he can hit enough to stay in ball past 30 though, I'm on the get in shape train also, both have a personal trainer.
jerb Verified Member Posted September 17, 2022 Posted September 17, 2022 Mitch Bannon @MitchBannon José Berríos has had some success rocking the red jerseys recently, but it’s actually the hitters telling him to wear read, he says. The #BlueJays jersey choice today was Bo Bichette’s.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 18, 2022 Posted September 18, 2022 Can't understate what a big deal it would be to have Berrios pitch like a front end starter from here on out
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2022 Posted September 18, 2022 Seattle down 2-0 lets go Shohei Angels win! Strength of schedule matters but man we have felt the reality that it's no W guarantee. Good ol' Loup closed out a 2-1 win for LAA.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2022 Posted September 18, 2022 Can't understate what a big deal it would be to have Berrios pitch like a front end starter from here on out Yeah can be the difference maker for this team in the Postseason. If Berrios pitches like a front of the rotation starter, the Jays in a short series can be dangerous!

mellowgold Verified Member Posted September 20, 2022 Posted September 20, 2022 Tampa's schedule the rest of the way is probably tougher than ours. HOU, TOR, @CLE, @HOU, @BOS. If we can somehow manage a split this weekend, I like our chances to finish ahead of them.
