#1 for this offseason for me is Verlander. Give him a blank cheque for 2023. There's no other glaring holes that need to be filled, no one needs to get extended. This leaves financial flexibility heading into next offseason when we'll be losing 2 OFers, and 3B.

 

I can see him doing Scherzer like deals till he can't do it anymore.

Pop gonna come back when Kikuchi is optioned to AAA after his next fiasco. And Merryweather will come back as a september call up.

I'd look to extend Vlad this offseason for sure. I'd consider Bo as well. Vlad is having a mediocre year for his standards and Bo a poor one and both project to be better in the future. Now is a much better time than last offseason.

I’m not worried about pitching next year rather the outfield. Assuming Springer moves to right field and divides his time between DH we need a CF. Teo will be gone and can’t play CF anyway. Who we got? Nobody in the system who’s ready for prime time. I don’t want to see Tapia et al platooning. Free agent CF’s under the age of 30 seem to be scarce for 2023. We need to improve up the middle.

Just curious why your thinking Lourdes over Teo. I would say that Teo maybe a slightly better player the Lourdes (very interchangeable) similar age..... Similar control....

Lourdes is a year younger but my gut tells me Teoscar has peaked. Teoscar has the power but Lourdes is the better hitter. More ceiling on Lourdes I think.

Just don't see Biggio as a full time CF for a contending team. That would be almost like waving the white flag for this team.

I don't think he means as a starter, we could platoon Merrifield and Biggio out there, behind Springer of course.

It was in response to my post about Springer moving to RF so I thought he meant as a starter. Springer can't stay in CF, he's too fragile. He has to move to RF creating a big hole if Teo or Gurriel gets moved this offseason. Maybe Atkins will stand pat and take another run at it with the same three. I hope not.
