5ToolPhenom Verified Member Posted August 9, 2022 Posted August 9, 2022 How many games did the Blue Jays make up on the Yankees in 2015? Yeah but you're not taking into account the talent of each roster on those particular teams. This team ain't no 2015 2nd half Blue Jays and same goes for the Yanks
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2022 Posted August 9, 2022 Gilbert had his s*** pushed in.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2022 Posted August 9, 2022 Yankees Matt Carpenter broke his foot tonight on a foul ball. Soto just kissed the wall, lucky he didn't get hurt.

HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2022 Posted August 9, 2022 Man it must suck to be a Padres fan right now all those big name hitters and their offense is doing nothing right now

This team ain't no 2015 2nd half Blue Jays and same goes for the Yanks They are at least AS TALENTED on a player by player basis. They need to play better, of course. Need to have MVP caliber Vlad and Superstar Bo show up, among other things.

Laika Community Moderator Posted August 9, 2022 Posted August 9, 2022 It makes me sad to see how bad Nick Senzel is. The 2016 draft is looking like an all time stinker. Still early for a number of those players but the first round is full of disappointments.

Laika Community Moderator Posted August 9, 2022 Posted August 9, 2022 oh wow...it's so bad. Cal Quantrill and Gavin Lux and Dylan Carlson, all disappointments in their own right, are like the 2nd to 4th best players taken in R1. Will Smith the only standout. Could be an 80 to 90% failure rate in the first round based on your line in the sand. There are three players in the 2nd round better than all the players in the first round! Bo, Reynolds, and Alonso.

The seasons Vlad and Bo has last season would definitely help. The 2015 team did have an MVP season from Josh Donaldson, and both Jose Bautista and Edwin had monster years as well. Gausman leads all MLB pitchers in WAR.

Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2022 Posted August 9, 2022 Chris Sale done for the season, had surgery this morning on his wrist that he broke in a bicycle accident, lol. That dude's cursed.
jerb Verified Member Posted August 9, 2022 Posted August 9, 2022 Jeff Passan @JeffPassan Red Sox starter Chris Sale broke his right wrist in a bike accident and underwent season-ending surgery Monday, the team announced. Amid fractured rib cage, a broken pinky on a comebacker and now this, Sale threw only 5.2 innings this season after posting 42.2 innings in 2021. Alex Speier @alexspeier This is year 3 of Sale's 5-year, $145M extension that he signed prior to the 2019 season (one year from free agency). Through those first 3 years, he's made 14 total starts (reg season and playoffs) and thrown 57 1/3 innings.

BTS Community Moderator Posted August 9, 2022 Posted August 9, 2022 There is like a 99% chance Sale broke his hand punching another wall, right? First thing I thought when I saw the story was there's no way it was actually a bike accident.

I realize that doesn't look likely right now for the 2022 team but we'll have to wait to see. A huge part of that 2015 comeback was due to our H2H vs the Yankees down the stretch. If the 2022 team is gonna make a run at the Yanks they will have to crush them H2H. Its not likely but it COULD happen.

Ray Verified Member Posted August 9, 2022 Posted August 9, 2022 The 2022 Dodgers might be the most dominant team I've seen in my lifetime. Their pythag record says they're actually on track to tie the 2001 Mariners with 116 wins. Combined team 115 OPS+ with Justin Turner, Max Muncy, & Cody Bellinger not performing up to par. They somehow even juiced a 139 OPS+ and 1.1 WAR from Trayce f***ing Thompson. What!? The craziest part is their pitching. Clayton Kershaw, Walker Buehler, and Dustin May are injured. Bauer is suspended. That's like 4/5's of an elite rotation injured/unable to play. On the bullpen side, Brusdar Graterol, Daniel Hudson, Blake Treiner, Yency Almonte, Tommy Kahnle are all injured. That bullpen would 100% be better than ours, and yet between all the injuries, they still have a team ERA of 2.87. Their entire team ERA is less than Kevin Gausman's season ERA. Just f***ing lol. Historical level dominance while some projected 10+ WAR sits on the injured list and some big underperformances. What Andrew Friedman has done with that team over the past 8 years is truly incredible.
