They are at least AS TALENTED on a player by player basis. They need to play better, of course. Need to have MVP caliber Vlad and Superstar Bo show up, among other things.

 

You're dreaming... In baseball, experience matters. Guys like Bautista, Donaldson and Encarnacion all producing at superstar levels supplemented by guys like Tulo, Martin and Smoak. That lineup was murderers row. And they had a solid veteran rotation that could be relied on day in and day out to keep the offense in it. Price was a beast, Estrada was having a career year, Dickey and Beurhle being old reliable.

 

That team had the chemistry to go all the way. You compare that lineup to this roster and it's not even close... Not even in the same ballpark.

Outside of the bullpen, I think player to player and the top of the starting rotation is fairly even to the 2015 team. The seasons Vlad and Bo has last season would definitely help. The 2015 team did have an MVP season from Josh Donaldson, and both Jose Bautista and Edwin had monster years as well. Gausman leads all MLB pitchers in WAR.

 

People often forget that they spent most of the year playing in those minor league parks... Imagine Bautista and EE having a season like that? They both would've crushed 60+ homeruns easily.

 

This team doesn't even have 1 player performing to the level of JD/JB/EE in 2015.

How do you know that? That 2015 team was .500 at the deadline and then went absolutely bananas afterwards.

 

I realize that doesn't look likely right now for the 2022 team but we'll have to wait to see. A huge part of that 2015 comeback was due to our H2H vs the Yankees down the stretch. If the 2022 team is gonna make a run at the Yanks they will have to crush them H2H.

 

Its not likely but it COULD happen.

The Central division is ass, so I can't give the Guardians too much credit, but I like the fact that their team is basically all homegrown talent or talent they acquired in recent trades. In an average division they probably look less impressive, but either way, wouldn't surprise me if they go on another Central division run starting this season.
