Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2022 Posted July 28, 2022 Read the article. For it to happen in a baseball player, we just have to take into consideration what he puts himself through with hitting, swinging on a daily basis just to get prepared and then also playing in the outfield, diving for balls. Jumping into the wall, things like that. And there’s so many things that can aggravate it, but this doctor hasn’t seen a lot of it. So to minimize the risk of fielding related aggravations and IL stints, it might be prudent for him to DH only. Also, this is a forum for baseball discussion, not attacks on other posters. Oh that skin is thin, lol.

Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2022 Posted July 28, 2022 yeah i do this every week some loser here laments the loss of rowdy tellez i pull up his fg page and it's meh he might even make toronto a worse team if still here all things considered I don't think that was Solaxy's intent, more than he's having a game. That trade last season was needed plus Rowdy asked to be traded, they gave him his wish, Richards helped a lot when our pen was in flux, too bad Bowden Francis sucks ass, but that trade was the right move. In saying that, I hope the big bastard does well, he's such a nice guy and lovable. Incoming ex-girlfriend comments, she was a scoured crazy women.

BlueJaysFever Verified Member Posted July 28, 2022 Posted July 28, 2022 That Red Sox defense just keeps imploding. I’m trying to remember the last time I’ve seen such a thing over an extended period of time.

BlueJaysFever Verified Member Posted July 28, 2022 Posted July 28, 2022 They're missing Trevor Story. They’re missing a whole bunch of key players but that’s less than acceptable even for AAA players.
Laika Community Moderator Posted July 28, 2022 Posted July 28, 2022 Benintendi to NYY and return seems a bit underwhelming, but not familiar with the MiLB talent coming back so who knows. Seems like a decent return IMO Benintendi is a ~3 WAR player so 60 games of a 3 win player isn't going to fetch the moon A comparable package from Toronto might be say Hayden Juenger + Dahian Santos + Sem Robberse
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2022 Posted July 28, 2022 Fun fact... Tellez has 20HRs and 64 RBIs already. He'd be 2nd in HRs and leading the team in RBIs. Sadly he wouldn't have gotten those At Bats on this team but boy do I wish we could have gotten a more useless player in return.
Laika Community Moderator Posted July 28, 2022 Posted July 28, 2022 fun fact he has 0.5 fWAR in 94 games

If the team wants to acquire a fat 1B with a slightly above-average bat, they'll be able to do that for almost nothing in the next few days. The Mets just acquired Vogelbach for a 26-year old AAA reliever.
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2022 Posted July 28, 2022 fun fact he has 0.5 fWAR in 94 games lol... some people will still think he has a special skill here ... I looked it up and I guess he does this year... killing it with risp... not that I personally believe it's a special skill, just 100 at bat variation, but he is killing it with RISP this year.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2022 Posted July 28, 2022 Tellez is getting BABIP'd a little bit it looks like and steamer projects him for .9 WAR for the rest of the year in just 50 games. He's probably better than the board gives him credit for but not as good as casuals think. I'd rather have him than Richards and Francis and he likely would have replaced Zimmer on the roster. All told we are coming out on the losing end of this deal but it's nothing that bad.

That being said he simply had no spot on this team as there was very little playing time available for him due to an MVP calibre player manning his primary position.
Laika Community Moderator Posted July 28, 2022 Posted July 28, 2022 Man Bowden Francis getting destroyed in AAA is a bigger deal (detriment) for the 2022 Blue Jays than people think. Peep the Fangraphs pre-season report: Acquired from Milwaukee for Rowdy Tellez, Francis had statistical success through the mid-minors by relying on plus command of three fringe pitches. Then he added a slider in 2021 and now has four distinct offerings, of which the slider has quickly become the best. It’s also hard, which is important because Francis’ curveball is a low-70s rainbow, averaging about 73 mph, while the slider has been up to 87 and sits a bit below that. He has a power pitcher’s style with soft stuff, but Francis’ feel to pitch is excellent and we think he’s an imminent backend starter. That guy would sure be nice to have this season.

Not interested in giving that up for Benintendi. Especially considering he would have been a backup player on this team.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2022 Posted July 28, 2022 Wanna see some ********? Just decided to check out the Mets remaining schedule, and their September is an absolute joke. Mets September games: 1 Dodgers 3 Nationals 7 Pirates 5 Marlins 3 Cubs 3 Athletics 3 Brewers 1 Braves What an easy ride lol. Schedule balancing can’t come soon enough.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2022 Posted July 28, 2022 Castano just took a comebacker at 104 mph off the bean.

Didn't the Nationals just take 2 of 3 in LA and the A's swept the Astros? LOL! They still play the Dodgers, Brewers and Braves which will be tough. Also, don't count out the Marlins if they throw Luzardo, Alcántara and Lopez in a series. It's not that easy of a schedule as you think.

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2022 Posted July 28, 2022 (edited) If the Jays and Brewers met in the World Series and Tellez hits a World Series walk-off home run against the Jays in Game 7. All I've said in previous posts, looking back at JPs tenure, he wasn't as bad as he was made out to be at the time by fans and the Toronto sports media. I mean I followed the Jays in the late 90s and early 2000s during some tough long years and during some fun seasons as well. I guess you just hopped on the bandwagon in 2015 and 2016 after the Blue Jays made the Postseason for the first time since 93?
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2022 Posted July 28, 2022 You'd get a good laugh, you a sadist? It ain't happening. Jays win in 6. Edited the beginning of that post dawg! Didn't mean it to sound that way.
Laika Community Moderator Posted July 28, 2022 Posted July 28, 2022 no lies the JP Ricciardi teams are what got me into baseball i hated the sport as a spectator until like 2004-2006 or so

I guess you just hopped on the bandwagon in 2015 and 2016 after the Blue Jays made the Postseason for the first time since 93? My reference was to AJ Burnett and B. J Ryan... I want us to get another Marlin's SP and an O's closer this year, for real!! I have been a Blue Jay fan since as long as I recall. First year I recall the team and knew what was going on was 83. I was at Exibition stadium the night before the clinch in 85 ready to charge the field.. My opinions on this board are derived from watching the Jays make the playoffs or near to it a hell of a lot in the 80's and 90's and not being able to get over the hump getting beat down by the A's, losing with a 3-1 lead to the Royals, losing to the Tigers down the stretch..until 92/93... In other words, I was learning about playoff success and failure from a fan perspective before half this board was born... I was just messing with you FYI. One of my greatest offseason experiences was the Winter Meetings when JPR did all the big signings, Good times!!
