Nolan Arenado and Paul Goldschmidt won't come to Toronto since they are unvaccinated.

Woahhhh. That's removing a 190 OPS+ and 155 OPS+ from the lineup. Huge.

lol! Love it! Can't wait to hear the seemingly mandatory interview with them to hear what drivel they spew out about not being vaccinated.

I understand that most fans are ignorant of some of baseball's darker history, but I highly recommend looking into it. It's troubling and interesting at the same time. Start with Tom Yawkey, who disgraces the Hall of Fame with his presence. The team still has a street named after him despite all of this and the city is routinely voted the most racist in the US. That organization has had a litany of troubling incidents like racism and sexual abuse, both in the past and present. It goes well beyond what we see with other teams and it starts with who they employ.

A few years ago they changed the name back to Jersey St.

Someone wants to win.

Good for them honestly. 6 more games for them at the dome I think? Could be important

Hader has not looked the same in a while now; hard contact, almost lost the game today.

Luckily they have Devin Williams.

They have the ability to think and make decisions on their own

Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that the Angels have received calls regarding two-way star Shohei Ohtani, but Los Angeles "would seek established major leaguers" in return as opposed to prospects, in hopes of "trying to fulfill their goal of returning to the postseason as quickly as possible."

The Angels' approach is somewhat different from other franchises. Rosenthal pointed to another team fielding trade offers for a star: the Washington Nationals. In discussions for outfielder Juan Soto, the Nationals are reportedly seeking "a combination of prospects and major leaguers with low service time" to try to build for the future.

"To meet that price, one club official said, 'you would have to rip up your farm system,'" Rosenthal wrote.

By reportedly seeking established MLB stars in exchange for Ohtani or outfielder Mike Trout, the Angels in essence would be asking a contender to shred its major league roster. It's unlikely that a team in the running for a pennant would be willing to meet their asking price.

Rosenthal noted that "if the Angels are going to move Ohtani, it probably would not happen until this offseason, when teams would be in better position to replace players they trade." However, he added that it's hard to imagine Los Angeles receiving equal compensation for the reining American League MVP.

The Angels really have no choice but to move Ohtani and it’s going to take a lot more than a few established MLB pieces to turn them into a contender. One of the leagues worst franchises no doubt

Or… they hold on to him and let him walk in free agency so they can overpay some 30+ yr old slugger that will forget how to hit 2 years into the contract

Lol sadly for Angels fans this might be the most likely outcome. Just such a bad org

The "bunch of scrubs and a few superstars" model has failed again

Man... ohtani fixes the pitching and the left handed bat issue with one person. He would cost less than Soto and I think we'd have a chance to keep him because of his age so he won't be asking for a crazy 15 year contract.

Although him being a full time DH sucks with a team that has Springer and Kirk on it so maybe it isn't as great of a fit. Very curious how his market value would be determined since he's an unprecedented player.

Agreed, but the Angels are incompetent, so my guess is they hold on to him and then let him walk as a FA. Or at most trade him next trade deadline when they are 10 games (or more) under .500. I just hope Ohtani stays healthy and doesn't hurt himself before free agency trying to carry this joke franchise.

Ohtani drives significant revenue. If they can’t get him signed and he walks there’s still a whole bunch of $$ that makes it worth keeping him around. Likely not the correct baseball decision with how they’re trending but trying to tell your owner that Ohtani needs to be dealt is an uphill battle.

Man - this reminds me how sad it is to see what Rendon has turned into. I thought he was one of the safest bets out there for a mega money deal. Good defender with a low K | 150 wRC+bat, 6 WAR player who was heading into his age 30 season. If you were going to sign a 30 year old player, I though Rendon was one of the safest and best bets in baseball. I guess that's baseball for you.

I've never been a huge fan of Rendon. Seemed like he was made of glass. But you would have thought hitting in a lineup with Trout and Ohtani, he would have greatly benefited.

I mean he averaged 146 games in the 4 season prior to signing in LA.

Giving up 27 runs in a single game certainly doesn't help, although I imagine at least a chunk of those were unearned due to shoddy defence. Thinking back the Tapia inside the park grand slam play wouldn't have been an error as the fielder lost the ball, and the popup that dropped in wouldn't have been ruled an error either as nobody touched it.

I don't understand why teams do this with top arms. He just threw 60 pitches in a dominant rehab start. Why not have him use the next bullets in an MLB game, even if its only 75 pitches? He doesn't have to be fully stretched out to pitch in an MLB game.

Yes, this irritated me as well, bruh.
