Boston is the first team in a decade to get walked off by every division rival in a single month ;)

Have a feeling he might end up back with the Yankees in a part time role. He has sucked pretty bad this year though.

Cheaters never prosper, except in MLB where you still get paid your 40 mil. whether you play or not. If these guys get suspended for juice it should void the remainder of their contract or at least force it into being reworked. There is no deterrent at all not to cheat, so you get to sit home on your couch for half or a whole season unpaid when you get caught but in the meantime you got over 200 million in career earnings for doing it.

Rodriguez also finally displayed his prodigious power on Sunday afternoon. He clobbered his first career home run – a mammoth 450-foot three-run blast – off of Marlins ace Sandy Alcantara in the sixth inning. The pitch was a 97.0 mph fastball and was turned around with an exit velocity of 110.4 mph. Not too shabby. Perhaps he felt a bit disrespected by the fact that the Marlins walked Abraham Toro-Hernandez intentionally in front of him, choosing to attack Rodriguez instead. When asked after the game whether Rodriguez had ever had the batter in front of him intentionally walked at any level before, he responded, “Nah, that was a first, and that’s what they got”.

Haha...... never intentionally walk the batter ahead of J-Rod.

This is incorrect, because players don't get paid during suspension.

Red Sox look like they may be a mess in a few years. Is there anyone really to look forward to or are they going to have to start spending for talent next year?

The thing with Boston and New York, if they suck one season really bad, they can spend unlimited amounts of money the next offseason and attract any top FA. We've seen Boston and New York do that before. So many baseball players and pitchers always dream of putting on a Red Sox or Yankees uniform. Boston might suck for this season, but I would be worried about them spending for top talent next season.

Check out our old friend Brandon Drury's statcast page!

Could this be the year of Drury!?

Which begs the question, why aren't they making a better effort to retain their high end pending free agents?

Not sure. Maybe they know something about Boegarts that we don't or they have always had a strained relationship. Though don't think Boston won't spend to bring in talent to upgrade their roster. They won't be stuck in a rebuild for 2-3 seasons lol.

Looking at Boston the last two decades, they have had seasons where they finished 5th in the AL East, but they never have been horrible for a majority of a decade. In 2012 they went 69-93 and placed 5th in the AL East.. In 2013, they end up finishing first in the AL East and winning a World Series.

From 2014-2015, they finished 5th two seasons in a row. Otherwise for the most part they've always been in the thick of things in a tough AL East division.

How Joe Ryan and the Twins are succeeding with fastball deception

Interesting article guys - worth reading

Very much so. This is why i think the higher contact type of hitter will be coming back into appeal in the next few years. Gonna have to balance out the lineups with fewer upper-cut swing guys. Jeff McNeil is doing it incredibly well this season for the Mets.

Re-read what I wrote, "you sit home for half or a whole season UNPAID". But for juicing he produced at a level that got him a contract for hundreds of millions and got paid all the money before the suspension and now will get paid after it for the next 1.9 seasons whether he ever plays another at bat or not. When you're going to end your career having made 250-275 million dollars I don't think that loss of one year's salary is going to hurt him too much.

Greinke has struck out 7 guys in 28 innings. I don't know how its even possible to miss that few bats.

That's not going to end well for him.

The Yankees have only played 4 games against >.500 teams. f*** them and their easy schedule

Nah that's great news. Essentially the same record between the Jays and Yankees. While the Yankees have been facing the dregs, the Jays polished off the Astros for the regular season. Plus the Yankees have 7 games against them versus 6 for the Jays. Well worth the trade off especially in a tight race.

This makes TJ Zeuch look like Justin Verlander by comparison.

ZG still has 3.81 FIP. Guess you can be that pitiful missing bats if you don’t walk anyone. May be worth $13m in the end

Looks like hard hit balls have been finding gloves as his xERA is an even 6.0. His statcast page is pretty ugly to say the least.

He's also 39 now. You expect some regression. I still think he'll be able to hold his own for this season and maybe next, especially in the early going with offensive numbers being way down.

On any given pitch command is more important than stuff.

I love it when these old veterans find a way to get by on pure command for a few seasons. All they have to do is basically never miss their spots in the zone, haha.

Doesn't the minors have a pitch clock? He's gonna be 3-0 before he throws his first pitch.

Cody Bellinger is now projected for a below average wRC+ by The Bat X.

He is 1 for his last 24.

He has a 33.3% k rate on the season.
