Because of personality issues or Money?

If I remember his salary is 25 million or something and he isn't projected to be that valuable so has negative trade value.

So if Twins don't pay you have to get them to add a prospect. Not sure there is anyway Twins pay some salary or add a prospect to get rid of him.

Mitch Garver for Isiah Kiner-falefa and Ronny Henriquez. I feel like we should just go trade Grichuk and a low level prospect for Josh Donaldson.

I don't mind the trade for Garver in terms of value, but the Rangers' moves are not making sense to me yet.

Their pitching staff is really, really bad. They don't have a 3B now and the outfield isn't great either.

Those seem like issues that will take a couple of years to address rather than a couple of months. By that time they may have a couple of rather undesirable big contracts and Garver will be gone.

Josh has 21,750,000, 21,750,000 and 16,000,000 or an 8 mil buyout. I would have them take on Grichuk's contract and I'd give a low level prospect.

Donaldson xwoba last year was .388. His xwoba in 2015 was .390. His batted ball profile last year was red across the board. He had elite contact stats. His defensive stats fell off a cliff, but those defensive stats can fluctuate wildly. It's entirely possible for those numbers to rebound and he's still an average 3rd baseman.

We wouldn't need Donaldson to play 3rd everyday. He can DH quite a bit too. His money falls off in 2 or 3 years depending if we pick up the option so good timing for when we need that money for our young stars.

He was a 2.2 win player with a .353 woba and a bad defensive year last year. If he had a .388 woba and wasn't so unlucky with the bat he would have been close to a 4 win player. There's also a strong chance he bounces back defensively. He could very well be a 3 to 4 win player who would be a pretty good hitter to have 6th in your lineup.

I understand what your are saying, but they also traded a guy with 2 years of control. It's not like they traded 5 years for 2 years or anything. I would think they have designs on getting a couple starters. I have no idea what kind of upside their young starters have. They obviously are putting a foot forward trying to compete over the next 2 if everything breaks right. They would benefit from a 7th team making it!

The bridge between Donaldson and the FO has been burned by my estimation. Could be totally wrong.

Hearing a fire sale is happening for the A's. Olson and Chapman could be gone soon as well.

I could get behind Chapman at fire sale price...

What would be a realistic package for us to get Chapman?

It was reported they were asking for one of the Phillies top 3 pitching prospects, so Tiedemann might get the conversation going.

Chapman at a reasonable price would be a nice cherry on top of the offseason. Sure it would be nice to move Grichuk, but covering all of our needs effectively without giving up a massive prospect haul would be a big success.

That's a pretty reasonable price for Gray. We must really like Kikuchi to not be in on that.

I would have definitely preferred Gray to Kikuchi. I have no idea if Gunnar is comparable value but would’ve been interested in that.

Yeah, it'd have to be Hoglund at best.

Kikuchi and Hoglund for Gray would be the trade.

@Feinsand

Per sources, the Padres are "aggressively shopping" both Eric Hosmer & Wil Myers.

Hosmer:

* 4 years/$60M left on deal

* Limited no-trade (can block deals to 10 teams)

* can opt out after '22

* 10-5 rights after '22

Myers:

* owed $20M in '22

* $20M '23 club option ($1M buyout)

I suppose the Jays are "aggressively shopping" Randall Grichuk too?

Most predictions have Kikuchi and Gray at pretty near equals. I’d much prefer to keep Hoglund and see what Walker can do with Kikuchi, seems like a guy that is a tweak away from being a #2/3 type guy.
