connorp Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 What’s the difference under the hood with Gausman anyway. I’m genuinely asking. I mean his issue was always giving up thr long ball, where obviously SF helps
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 I hope so too, but I am fully prepared to be disappointed. As each available free agent comes off of the board I find myself getting antsy just like I do every offseason. Gausman at 5 years/$100 million is almost certainly a much better value than what Ray will end up earning.

His velocity also ticked up as well.

jerb Verified Member Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 Mark Feinsand @Feinsand Rangers and Angels appear to be two teams making a push for Jon Gray. Rangers interest has been there for a while.
jerb Verified Member Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 Robert Murray @ByRobertMurray Free-agent pitcher Jon Gray in agreement on a deal with the Texas Rangers, according to a source familiar with the situation.

jerb Verified Member Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 Jeff Passan @JeffPassan Jon Gray will get $56 million over four years from Texas, pending a physical, according to a source.

Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 Jeff Passan @JeffPassan Jon Gray will get $56 million over four years from Texas, pending a physical, according to a source. Wow. That's a hell of a lot less than I expected.
max silver Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 Holy s*** Jesus to me that makes the Matz deal look like a bargain in comparison. Rangers look desperate to spend money this offseason, I fully hope it blows up in their faces.
jerb Verified Member Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 Joel Sherman @Joelsherman1 Gausman and Gray were #Mets fallbacks. Have not sensed they want to play on Robbie Ray because signing him would mean forfeiting the 14th pick in the draft. If so, lots riding on trying to get Scherzer finalized. Boras also reps 2 other available SPs: Rodon/Kikuchi.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 No Texas tax apparently? Can confirm
bronson44 Verified Member Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 Man, this is how the offseason should always be.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 Jon Gray to Texas. 4 years $56M.
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2021 Author Posted November 29, 2021 Man, this is how the offseason should always be. For real... NHL/NBA offseasons are a blast... they're like actual events. MLB offseasons are the worst usually
BTS Community Moderator Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 I just want to point out again how inept the Rockies FO is. Keeping Gray at the deadline, then not qualifying him, then watching him sign for 4/56 is hilarious.
jerb Verified Member Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 Robert Murray @ByRobertMurray Free-agent pitcher Michael Lorenzen and the Los Angeles Angels are in agreement on a one-year deal worth around $7 million, pending physical, according to sources familiar with the situation. Lorenzen is going to be in the Angels’ rotation.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 Provided the Rangers pitching coach isn’t a dumpster fire. I think that contract is going to be an absolute steal for Texas. Great off-season for them so far.
jerb Verified Member Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 Joel Sherman @Joelsherman1 The #Mets are making progress with Max Scherzer. Have not heard it is final. Deal might be for as much as 4 years if it gets done.

Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 Just catching up on an earlier signing. That Avisail Garcia deal is absolutely horrendous. I don't know what the Marlins are seeing to make that kind of commitment.

Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 Don't go to the Mets Max. What the hell man? I mean, better than him going to an AL East team, but you'd think he'd take less to go to an actual contender lol

glory Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 Max is definitely using the Mets to drive up the price for the Dodgers.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 There’s no way Scherzer actually wants to sign with the Mets
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 Apparently Max’s contract is approaching $45 million annually….. WTF
