Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted November 27, 2021 Posted November 27, 2021 According to Jeff Passan of ESPN, Mark Canha has agreed to a deal with the Mets. The deal is expected to be for two years with an option for a third year and $26.5 million guaranteed. according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post. The 32-year-old would be a solid addition as a versatile high on-base outfielder. Canha posted a .231/.358/.387 slash line last season with 17 home runs and 12 stolen bases over 519 at-bats for the Athletics. The deal is pending a physical.

Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted November 27, 2021 Author Posted November 27, 2021 Mets making some moves. I'm a big Marte fan.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted November 27, 2021 Posted November 27, 2021 Escobar Canha Marte Mets aren't landing any big fish yet, but they're nibbling away. It's the Mets. No matter who they sign they'll find a way to f*** it up and miss the post season again.
Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted November 27, 2021 Posted November 27, 2021 It's the Mets. No matter who they sign they'll find a way to f*** it up and miss the post season again. Probably. Based on last years stats the Mets added 11.1 fWAR today Based on steamer projections they added 7.2 fWAR today
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted November 27, 2021 Posted November 27, 2021 Probably. Based on last years stats the Mets added 11.1 fWAR today Based on steamer projections they added 7.2 fWAR today Not really, there are only so many players on a lineup card.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted November 27, 2021 Posted November 27, 2021 Marte was my #2 free agent option behind Correa this year but $78M/4 is steep and could look bad down the line. And the Mets signing him probably means he's gonna begin his decline tomorrow.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted November 27, 2021 Posted November 27, 2021 (edited) Probably. Based on last years stats the Mets added 11.1 fWAR today Based on steamer projections they added 7.2 fWAR today The Mets are into the luxury tax already and their rotation is Degrom, Walker, Carrasco, Megill, Peterson. Degrom is obviously amazing, but where's his health at? The Mets might have to spend what the Dodgers did last year just to be competitive. How is it possible to have a 230 million dollar payroll and that's your rotation. Edited November 27, 2021 by saskjayfan
TheHurl Site Manager Posted November 27, 2021 Posted November 27, 2021 Second best thing that could happen for the Mets would be to absolutely awful in the first half. They have Nimmo now in his FA year, McCann with his defense will always have some value even if he's got 3 more years (and Alvarez might be close to ready), Pretty much their entire back end of the Pen is in their last year. Even Degrom could walk away from his 2 years $67M remaining at the end of the season. They also have many redundant guys that could really up their value if have a bounce back/health starts (Jeff McNeil, JD Davis, Dom Smith).
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted November 27, 2021 Posted November 27, 2021 I'm looking forward to our lineup facing Wacha several times this year
TheHurl Site Manager Posted November 27, 2021 Posted November 27, 2021 I'm looking forward to our lineup facing Wacha several times this year We slashed a monster .256/.283/.372 against him last year
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted November 27, 2021 Posted November 27, 2021 We slashed a monster .256/.283/.372 against him last year That surprises me. Well OK we can do better.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted November 27, 2021 Posted November 27, 2021 I'm looking forward to our lineup facing Wacha several times this year I know....I saw that signing...and 7 million. Seems like a win for the Jays!
xposbrad Verified Member Posted November 27, 2021 Posted November 27, 2021 Probably. Based on last years stats the Mets added 11.1 fWAR today Based on steamer projections they added 7.2 fWAR today How much fWAR did the Jays lose and how much did they gain so far?
Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted November 27, 2021 Posted November 27, 2021 Damn, Neris was a guy I was hoping the Jays would bring in.
Virgil_Hiltz Verified Member Posted November 28, 2021 Posted November 28, 2021 According to Morosi the Jays are in agreement with relief pitcher Yimi Garcia
RobinThicc Verified Member Posted November 28, 2021 Posted November 28, 2021 Martino reported earlier the Mets are in on Gausman, and that ge might sign soon. Looks like a pretty clear agent leak to Morosi to get the bidding war really going, so I guess its true Gausman will be signing soon.

Fingers crossed I might prefer Gaussman over Ray though depends on contract

Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted November 28, 2021 Posted November 28, 2021 Just posted this in another thread but would Gausman take us out of the Ray sweepstakes? I would say yes just based on payroll
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted November 28, 2021 Posted November 28, 2021 Just posted this in another thread but would Gausman take us out of the Ray sweepstakes? I would think so They need $ for IF and BP too
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted November 28, 2021 Author Posted November 28, 2021 I would think so They need $ for IF and BP too Both scare me in terms of being able to keep up their performance from last year. Says Gausman will likely get a 5 year deal so seems like it will be right around where Ray ends up.

Gausman was excellent in 2020 as well so he has a longer track record of his current performance level vs Ray.

Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted November 28, 2021 Author Posted November 28, 2021 This kid is such a clown. Can get annoying off the field but love the guy on the field, which i mostly what I care about. Seems like he may have wanted to come back and we didn't want him. No reason to throw Ray and Gausman's names into the fire though.
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted November 28, 2021 Author Posted November 28, 2021 He’s talking about the Mets FO Well then... I hope we can land him if Ray and Gausman don't workout lol.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted November 28, 2021 Posted November 28, 2021 Well then... I hope we can land him if Ray and Gausman don't workout lol. There’s zero chance the Jays are bringing that cancer back into the clubhouse lol
