Its one of those nights when I turn on my Playstation that’s collecting dust just to fire up MLB The Show. Start a franchise mode just to fire Charlie Montoyo and retire.

You can definitely see the inexperience of the younger hitters this season. They get very anxious with runners on base.

Vlad swinging at a lot of bad pitches tonight

Go look at his stats, man, before you say something as silly as that.

Overall, yes his stat line is incredible.

But of late, he isn't there.

The offense was s*** tonight. Can’t use the best relievers every night so the Jays needed to get lucky with Merryweather and Saucedo, and they weren’t.

They better win the next 3.

It's fine; had to lose one, get it all out here. Get the next 3.

Vladdy has to wake up though when it comes to clutch hitting.

He had been way too anxious

cant beilieve we took an L with Ray starting and against the damn Orioles.

Definitely a terrible way to start a 4 games series against a s*** team

Vladdy has left a lot of runners on in recent weeks. But I wouldn’t say I’m overly concerned about it at this point.

What I am concerned about is the brain capacity of the guy making the on field decisions. f*** I miss Gibby man.

Not cashing any runs with the bases loaded really hurts now... rough way to lose

Yeah, s***** loss, especially seeing as there's a chance to leapfrog the Yanks and move a game back of the Bosox. Hell, even Rays are losing.

Cant get it done at the plate or on the mound so a very deserving L. And 3 Es to boot. Maythe Jays werent really trying.

Must have been a rough flight

Man it's hard to rip on the Jays when they just won 8 in a row, but they're 8-2 in their last 10 games and those two losses were to the Baltimore f***ing Orioles.

These pricks got my hopes up sky high again with their recent surge. It'd be a shame to take a s*** all over that by dropping the ball against a team that's won 40 some games this year. Jesus Christ.

Anthony Santander said that one was for weems.

Can't win every single game. Moving on...focus...

Posted
Yeah the Jays weren’t going to run the table for 25+ games. Even the s*** teams win games. But damn if they don’t take the next 3, what a wasted opportunity. They still need to win every series the rest of the way.

Yeah basically that’s what it is. Not going to get the breaks very game. Was a nice run and hopefully they still stay hot

I didn’t see if there were any “fire Montoyo” comments with Merryweather, that’s a classic hindsight 20/20 situation. When every game is important and usually close, at some point you had to see where he’s at.

Oh there were.

I mean Merryweather has looked like the best RP on the team whenever he has been healthy. I don't really see anything wrong with trying him in the 7th inning of tie game, against a s***** team. The team is probably going nowhere without one of Pearson or Merryweather stepping up in short order as a shut down reliever anyway.

I didn't have an issue using Merryweather there either. The Orioles suck and the Jays couldn't wait for a low leverage situation for much longer without risking the health of their only 4 reliable RPs. Only criticism would have been not taking Merryweather out when Santander was up (Saucedo sucks but Santander can't lefties), but using him in general was fine with me. As mentioned, the Jays need one or both of Pearson + Julian to be a late inning option if they want any chance at making the WC game or advancing past it.

The sample size is not statistically significant but Merryweather has destroyed lefties with his changeup so I prefer him to Saucedo there.

It would maybe be a different story of Toronto had a wicked lefty available. Saucedo isn't that. I guess they could have used Mayza but maybe they wanted to avoid him yesterday.
