Names keep changing... Yanks look good in this deal... *sighs*

We probably would have been looking at moving someone like Jordan Groshans. He might be the most comparable to Duran.

Similar offer from our side would have been Jordan Groshans, Miguel Hiraldo, couple prospects ranked around 20-30.

Groshans is a 21 year old top 100 prospect playing AA. Duran is a 22 year old playing single A. Duran is more comparable to Samad Taylor who is also 22 but playing at AA.

Groshans is a 50FV prospect. Duran is a 50FV prospect. Groshans is ranked slightly higher at 87 compared to the 122 that Duran is ranked. The 35 spots at the area of the list is pretty much negligible.

With Groshans we might have another Devon Travis on our hands. He has the talent but just can't stay healthy. His successful seasons keep getting interrupted with injuries, until eventually he ends up too broken to play at a high level.

Prospects are hard to discern, but groshan's by all reports has more speed and athleticism. He strikes out less and he's a year older playing at a higher level. I think the Jays should value him more than Duran. Fangraphs may have Duran higher than some sites. Texas may think Duran is better than Groshans. Who knows. I think it's a bit early to put Groshans in the Devon Travis category. He's had 207 PA this year. It's not like he's missed most of the season.

OK..maybe I was reaching there, but I'll take Groshan's over Duran thank you very much.

Don't type without the research. I just remember looking up Taylor a few weeks ago and he struck out 23% of the time and walked 15% of the time with a 1.212 OPS in June. He's had a much worse July with the K rates jumping now that I look. Taylor is a guy we should be trading. Some team like Arizona or Colorado will take him in the rule 5. We need to make some sort of decision on Smith. I wish we would have brought him up instead of Valera. Smith will get taken in the rule 5 too. The 40 is getting pretty jammed up. What happened to Joey Murray? I feel like he had tommy John, but can't remember.

I never said Groshans should be valued less than Duran or even exactly equal. I said he was the most comparable, which he is. He's our lowest ranked 50FV according to fangraphs. Most other sites are just now coming out with their updated lists, and even then they're only going 100 deep, for all we know they might have Duran at 101.

fair enough...point taken. Both Groshans and Martin should be mlb ready sometime next year. Smith is ready for a look now, but he can't find a spot. Martinez is firing on all cylinders and is probably 2 years out. Lopez is probably ready next year at some point too if he progresses. We still have Jiminez and Hiraldo a couple years out. Beltre is the young stud 4 or 5 years out. It's a shame we pissed away so many games this year. We really do have a lot of prospect capital to spend.

I don't know why you're bringing Jay players up, I just think it's a light return for Gallo. Nothing egregious but light nonetheless.

Because the Jays were in on him? And may have had the leading offer until the Yankees upped theirs.

I didn't get that rumour, they must've had LGJ going the other way, in a package.

Yeah gimme Groshans over Duran too. I think Groshans is a top 50 prospect.

Was in a tweet on the last page. Jays and Braves had leading offers.

I personally don’t think Groshans was involved in the package. The org is really high on him and they still believe in him as a top prospect. Yankees gave up quantity here without really touching their top guys (Dominguez, Garcia, Schmidt, Gil, Peraza, Volpe)

Texas was rumored to really want one or our catching prospects last trade deadline and we had a bit of an abundance before the injury bug.

Riley Adams was available!

What a day. Will the Jays do something? Should they. Such a critical game tonight. NBA draft day....Masai doesn't even have a contract...what's going to happen? The Olympics are in full swing, so many Canadians I've never heard of that I feel compelled to watch...and Canada taking on Mexico in the semi finals of the Gold cup. A great tune up for world cup qualifiers. I'm being pulled in so many directions today. I'm going to have to buy my son an xbox game to keep him entertained..lol.

Predicting that the prospect dealt here will be very annoying.

But we are buying, friends.

Looks like it’s Riley Adams for Brad Hand.

A tad pricey for a rental reliever, but perfectly fine given the market I guess

Holy f***, Riley Adams burned for Hand. That's annoying.

I mean, Riley Adams' "value" is what? As a throw in piece in a bigger trade? He's 25 years old and like 5th on our catching depth chart. He's not a top prospect - this is about the price for a rental reliever who's had obvious success in the past.

One interesting bit: Brad Hand's velocity this year is actually higher than each of his prior two seasons. He's been OK, but I'm sure there is hope that we can get better performance out of him during the remainder of the season.

Adams wasn’t going to get any real playing time here with Kirk, Moreno, Jansen, and McGuire. Pearson might not be happy with this though given the two were pretty close.

It’s probably good for both sides as Adams will have a chance to earn a big league spot with the Nats. Their system is pretty bad even with the emergence of Cavalli and drafting House.

I hope not. Hand is a rental and hasn't been that good this year.

edit - Adams. Meh. I'd rather we give up less, but I'm also OK with this.

Catching can get pretty thin around the league. Adams is flawed but he's still a ~40FV prospect with good minor league numbers, raw power, other tools. He projects as a good hitting backup who can hold his own behind the plate. It's not unreasonable to expect him to have trade value. His place on Toronto's depth chart is mostly irrelevant for his trade value.
