You're absolutely right, we've seen it happen over and over. If Atkins isn't putting his foot down wtf is he doing?

With the infield defense shifted so extreme to protect against the bunt, Espinal probably is actually a good hitter to have at the plate. He doesn’t strike out much and he hits a lot of ground balls. Any batted ground ball in that situation had to have had a very high xBA.

To add to my last post though, the Rays know how retarded Montoyo is so they kept the extreme shift on anyway bc they knew Montoyo was hellbent on a bunt. That HAD to have had an effect on Espinal. He would have had to have had a perfect bunt to be successful there and he could see it.
