King Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2021 Posted May 5, 2021 Like you did? No, I stayed up to watch Big Irv pitch a masterpiece. And Shane McClanahan
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2021 Posted May 5, 2021 No, I stayed up to watch Big Irv pitch a masterpiece. And Shane McClanahan Irv sucks balls...the next team he faces will get 6 off him.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2021 Posted May 5, 2021 Is it a slow gun tonight or has Thornton's fastball been s***?
King Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2021 Posted May 5, 2021 Irv sucks balls...the next team he faces will get 6 off him. I take it you haven't been watching tonight, then.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2021 Posted May 5, 2021 Is it a slow gun tonight or has Thornton's fastball been s***? Thornton's velo has been way down this season. He also throws a ton of cutters, but he used to sit 92-93 as a starter and now he basically tops out at 93 out of the bullpen.
5ToolPhenom Verified Member Posted May 5, 2021 Posted May 5, 2021 Just got in. I'm surprised the Jays didn't fare better against Irvin. I thought he'd be a favorable match up for them
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2021 Posted May 5, 2021 Just got in. I'm surprised the Jays didn't fare better against Irvin. I thought he'd be a favorable match up for them not really. Just ask King.
King Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2021 Posted May 5, 2021 not really. Just ask King. As a general rule of thumb, elite pitchers aren't favorable matchups for hitters.
Jgarza868899 Verified Member Posted May 5, 2021 Posted May 5, 2021 Kings boy could get a complete game.
King Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2021 Posted May 5, 2021 My god. An absolute masterpiece. Sometimes you just have to tip your cap.
JFD Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2021 Posted May 5, 2021 I think we can just call him King Irvin going forward
King Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2021 Posted May 5, 2021 I think we can just call him King Irvin going forward I like this
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2021 Posted May 5, 2021 As a general rule of thumb, elite pitchers aren't favorable matchups for hitters. Any pitcher can dominate in one game when he has his best stuff, especially when balls get his 109 off the bat and find a glove instead of leaving the yard or at least getting you double.
5ToolPhenom Verified Member Posted May 5, 2021 Posted May 5, 2021 Man, Danny Jansen's just an automatic out. The league's got him figured out.

Lol? He's only given up two batted balls with a 100+ MPH exit velo (one of those was a double). And 3 more between 90 MPH and 100 MPH. 12 balls in play were under 90 MPH exit velo. This isn't batted ball luck. Are you even watching?

THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2021 Posted May 5, 2021 Can’t hit for average, can’t hit for power. Disgusting with the bat. Need Kirk back bad
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2021 Posted May 5, 2021 Man, Danny Jansen's just an automatic out. The league's got him figured out. I don't think the league figured him out so much as he just completely forgot how to hit or lost whatever strength he used to have to drive the baseball.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2021 Posted May 5, 2021 This umpire has been dogshit. Bo and Vlad robbed.
5ToolPhenom Verified Member Posted May 5, 2021 Posted May 5, 2021 I've never been a proponent for roboumps, but dear lord. Some of these umps are TERRIBLE. As if it isn't hard enough to hit in this day and age as it is

He hit his spots and was very good. I'm saying show me that over 15 starts. This was probably the best start he'll have all year.

Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted May 5, 2021 Posted May 5, 2021 Better have a better scouting report for tomorrow's pitcher
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2021 Posted May 5, 2021 Well, everyone can switch to the Raptors game now and hear Jack repeatedly say that Gillespie is "amphibious".
5ToolPhenom Verified Member Posted May 5, 2021 Posted May 5, 2021 I wish they'd just carry the TNT feed lol
5ToolPhenom Verified Member Posted May 5, 2021 Posted May 5, 2021 I don't think the league figured him out so much as he just completely forgot how to hit or lost whatever strength he used to have to drive the baseball. I dunno. He always sucked, but he was able to run into a few every now and again. I haven't been watching closely enough to know where his holes are, but the league certainly seems to have figured out where to pitch him. If the Jays are serious about competing, they're going to have to do something about the catching. I don't think Kirk's the answer either.
King Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2021 Posted May 5, 2021 Jansen should probably be optioned to AAA, but he might stick because of Kirks injury.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2021 Posted May 5, 2021 Jansen should probably be optioned to AAA, but he might stick because of Kirks injury. Kirk got injured at possibly the worst possible time for his career

The kid doesn't strike out and he hits the ball hard. Even early when his numbers were crap, he wasn't striking out. It was only a matter of time that he broke out.
