Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2021 Posted April 22, 2021 Right now anybody can do what Rowdy is doing at the plate which is NOTHING Palacios, Espinal and Panik have proven to be better at the plate than Tellez so far this season. Holy f***.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2021 Posted April 22, 2021 Holy f***. I believe you said this last time, also. lol
EastCoaster Verified Member Posted April 23, 2021 Posted April 23, 2021 Holy f***. Tellez 49 PA 8 hits .163 avg 421ops Panik 28 PA 8 hits .308 avg 692 ops STATS DON'T LIE PANIK GET ON BASE MORE OFTEN THAN TELLEZ RIGHT NOW SO HE SHOULD BE GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY AT BAT TO TRY AND KEEP THE RALLIES GOING.

5minutesforframing Verified Member Posted April 23, 2021 Posted April 23, 2021 Didn't TB start Renfroe in the world series last year? Tsutsugo too? Don't be a f***ing clown. Because s***** players have been on WS rosters, that means Rowdy must stay on the roster? Interesting logic.
polar bear Verified Member Posted April 23, 2021 Posted April 23, 2021 This is what I'm talking about these sample sizes are so damn small, I mentioned this very thing this morning. He goes 0 fer and everyone shits while missing that he had 3 good AB's that were hit hard but at someone, even the K was on a filthy 3-2 CH. Pretty sure he will turn it around.

What's the matter truth hurts stats don't lie like i said it easy to see that right now Panik is on base more often that Rowdy given the opportunity no matter what you think the numbers proves it.

Just so we're clear, I'm not going to bother trying to explain this to you. You're too far gone.

By your logic the Braves should park Ozzie Albies on the bench and start Ehire Adrianza from now on.

Panik can also hit sac fly's, get the guy over to third with a ground ball, and sac bunts. So that is even more extra offense that he gives over Rowdy.

Panik has shown that he put the ball in play more often than Tellez right now. Scott Hatteburgh Carlos Pena A's fiasco.

He was striking out, not laying off pitches, pulling off pitches. He was bad. Since then he's had 36 PA. He's had 11 hits hitting .306 only 5 Ks 14% strike out rate and his average exit velocity for the year including the bad stretch is 96.5. Rowdy has shown the ability to elevate the ball and hit it out. He's hitting it hard. The home runs will come. He hit one 391 feet in his second at bat against Glasnow. It was a long out. He hit it to dead center. If he pulls it, it's gone. I get that you can't discount the bad times and only look at the good, but he seems to have turned a corner. He just needs the plate appearances to straighten the numbers out. It would be nice to see a few more walks, but really the entire team is pressing because the offense has been bad. Springer is going to help.

A word of advice: you should look up the definition of BABIP before using it again.
Laika Community Moderator Posted April 27, 2021 Posted April 27, 2021 Some big signs of encouragement over the last couple of weeks for sure. He is having better PAs and he has murdered some pitches from tough arms. Offensively I am more worried about Gurriel. Tellez - bad start but some good signs lately. still not sure he is more than a replacement level player. Gurriel - very worried. looks f***ed. Kirk - bad results but I'm not worried. Jansen - I've given up on him entirely. Backup C. Biggio - I'm not worried.

He's going to lose playing time when Teo and Springer are both back.

There are 3 possibilities a) random luck Just a random 3 week cold stretch that is typical of Gurriel's skill level (Vernon Wells, George Bell, Joe Carter, etc have had these too). Gurriel has lost his skills (vax side effect, natural early decay, random batting yip that is not correctable by any means) can't do anything. Smart thing to do would be to hand him his release. c) Gurriel has not lost his skill but needs to make an adjustment (random batting yip that is correctable) This is a murky area. I sometimes think these cases separate the good organizations from the bad. If Gurriel is having a mechanical issue, and the issue is correctable, Charlie and the coaching staff should identify it and correct it. It sometimes seems that Yankees, Astros, Dodgers, find these mechanical issues right away, correct them and all their players reach full potential. I say we trade Gurriel to one of those organizations and see if he starts hitting, it would at least prove the theory.

Grich is not coming out of the lineup any time soon obviously. I think what i would like to see from Gurriel considering he is not even really a good defender in the outfield is maybe a utility role however with Biggio doing that as well that is not ideal.

Of course I don't know s***, and I'm not claiming I do. I'm claiming that Charlie should know... and maybe Charlie knows it is just random, and Gurriel will be fine, so no need to call Dante.
