Jays are 12-4 in their last 16 games.

If they can do that over the next 16 games they will only need .500 to get to 90 wins.

For the rest of the season:

10 games vs Baltimore

6 games vs Minny

6 games vs Detroit

2 games vs Washington

Might be greedy but it sure would be nice to win 20 of those 24 games.

There's 7 games vs Twins left**

7-3 vs Orioles

5-2 vs Twins

4-2 vs Tigers

2-0 vs Nats

18-7

2-1 vs Athletics

2-2 vs White Sox

1-2 vs Mariners

Nate Pearson is scheduled to start for the triple-A Buffalo Bisons today — his first appearance in an affiliated game since June 16.

Will be a brief outing as Pearson works toward joining Blue Jays bullpen for stretch run. He's been sitting high-90's in sim games.

Cavan Biggio (back/neck) is also in Bisons lineup today, batting third as a DH.

Biggio's gone 0-for-4 with three walks and a HBP through the first two games of his rehab assignment. He played 9 innings at third base Friday night.

Nate Pearson will throw just 20-25 pitches in his Triple-A outing today. Commanding pitches and the zone is equally as important as the pitch count.

ALSO: Anthony Castro and CJ Edwards will pitch on rehab assignments today. #BlueJays

The one tweet said big nate with throw 20-25 pitches.....He actually threw 13....Hoping they were satisfied with that being 1 innings work and not anything else . Probably had to quickly wrap him in bubble wrap ship him to Washington

Odd they just threw Murphy away in order to replace him with an anonymous AAA reliever instead. As soon as Pearson is ready Overton likely finds himself on waivers next, likely having pitched one or two innings total. Terrible asset management by the front office.

Murphy was terrible and will be out of options after this year. The stuff wasn't fooling anyone. He's also historically injury prone and the forced change in delivery may have broken him. He's a complete non asset.

Murphy will one day figure it out and become a good bullpen piece for someone I think... But the Jays don't have the time to wait

According to the Jays transactions page, Reds traded us Mallex Smith.

Nothing on MLBTR, and no indication as to what we gave up (or when).

Pearson is on the 40 man, no need to DFA Overton to bring him back up.

Our 40 man cannot handle much more abuse... And I don't get the reason it would be PR, but I don't know anything about Smith, other than he used to be good, but sucks now.

Because he can run like the wind, bro. They'll make that decision on the 31st, lots can happen by this time and then... :P

Even more urgent than our 40 man, I'm pretty sure we can't game the active MLB roster in September anymore. According to wikipedia, we get 2 more slots. Those slots should go to some combination of Pearson (if his arm doesn't fall off), Biggio, and Jansen. Merryweather too if he's still alive.

As much as we don't like Jansen, he needs to be up if he finishes rehab. Having a good glove backup C will free up Kirk to hit more than once a week. Every single one of these players is more valuable to us than Mallex Smith.

That game last night seems like it was the end of the jays hopes for a wild card. Yankees are on fire now with Gallo and odor playing amazing. After this year I think fans will regret trading away woods Richardsonan and Martin for a playoff shot.
