The graphic only shows players that made it to phase two of All-Star voting. Tatis was the only Padre to make it and Grisham isn't eligible to be voted on at this point.

Otherwise, Cronenworth would be an even bigger snub than Grisham.

They included all of the players that made it to phase two between both teams. The Jays have 5 guys that qualified for phase two voting and the Padres only have one. You literally can't vote for the other guys you mentioned.

This is why fan voting is stupid. That fact you could even vote for Grichuk at any point is pretty sad.

Yup, agreed there. Teoscar got more OF votes than Mullins, lmao.

Didn't the voting open several weeks ago? Grichuk actually had pretty good numbers up until June....

Mullins defiinitely deserves to be there. Crazy season so for him so far

At some point in mid May, Grichuk was hitting well over .300 and was up there on the home run and RBI leaderboards as a CF..

I'm not saying that those are the best stats to go by, but I can understand why he received votes.

Reese is out of options and Jansen and Kirk have 2 and 3, respectively. If all 3 get healthy, would it be possible to trade Reese for a decent reliever?

I think it's far more likely that Kirk will end up in AAA than it is that we will get a useful return for a catcher on a hot streak that cleared waivers not long ago.

Teams could have had Reese for free and didn't do it. Will there be more interest after his hot streak? I don't know, but seems unlikely. My guess is one of Jansen or Kirk will be in AAA while McGuire stays on. I would hope Jansen is the one who goes to AAA, but wouldn't shock me if it's Kirk knowing that Montoyo bases playing time on years of service (aka the Joe Panik rule).

That would suck, because it's Jansen that needs some time at AAA to work on his bat, not Kirk.

So the hot streak isn't good enough to get us a useful reliever (in our case anyone above replacement level) but it is enough for him to supplant a Top 100 prospect? That same prospect that he was just DFA'd for not long ago?

This way they get to keep everyone.

They like hoarding their youngsters.

Kirk has injury questions, defensive questions, and didn't exactly light it up with the bat this year. Giving him time in AAA and preserving depth isn't exactly the worst idea.

Is Gurriel's hair the worst or best thing ever, I can't decide. Pretty sure it's the worst.

I'd say Bo's is glorious (like he's the next H&S spokesperson). Gurriel's is dumb (and this is coming from a bald guy)

What the hell is Ben Wagner getting paid to do these days?

I don't want to leave Kirk at AAA much longer beyond his return date if he's healthy.

Steamer projects him as the second best hitter at C in all of baseball. And I think we all see that offensive potential. He's got to be one of the two catchers on the team. The defense is passable.

Edit - By the way, look who is 12th on the list now.

Atkins makes this decision, not Charlie, he has input, but it's the GM's decision.

Ahh that reminds me of when Joe Mauer and CJ Wilson were in those head and shoulders commercials. MLB stars need to be in more commercials like that.

If the Jays can dump Grichuk this season, they only have 54.7M locked up in guaranteed contracts next season:

- Springer: $29.7M

- Ryu: $20M

- Gurriel: $5M

There is $75M coming off the books, including $12M for Roark, $5.5M for Yates, $4M for Tulo and a combined $7M for Yamaguchi, Phelps, Panik and Milone. That's nearly $30M in completely dead money right now.

Guerrero probably gets a big Arb 1 number and Teoscar probably gets a big Arb 2 number but Bichette is still on a minimum contract and Biggio's Arb 1 is probably fairly cheap.

The Jays have already shown a willingness to spend by getting a top flight free agent in each of the past two offseasons with Ryu and Springer and they even made it to the final three with Bauer.

This is arguably the greatest baseball free agent class of all time coming up. I'm ridiculously excited to see what they do with all the flexibility.

Biggio is pre arb next year. Stripling is Arb 3 though. He probably gets 5 or 6.

Rays, Stros and A's all lost tonight, this pleases me.

But Sox with yet another 1 run win. Their record in 1 run games 14 and 7...the Jays 5 and 10.

Royals blew another lead. Even in the 8th with runners on the corners and 2 out Ottavino left an 82 mph slider over the heart of the plate and Soler grounded to 3rd instead of banging it otu of the park.

Agree whole heartedly (even though I'm not bald)

No matter what happens from here on out, I have to say I'm glad they were able to hand on to Reese McG

Reese McG likes to have his hand on things.

Wow they're in great shape

How exciting

I would like to see Vlad and Bo locked up over the next couple of years

And still have $$$ for a frontline starter and lockdown reliever. Either via FA signing or trading with a team who wants to unload a contract.

Trade targets: Jose Berrios, Adam Frazier, Kyle Gibson, Taylor Rogers, Matthew Boyd

Pending free agent SP: Noah Syndergaard, Clayton Kershaw, Max Scherzer, Justin Verlander, Zack Greinke, Lance Lynn, Marcus Stroman, Kevin Gausman, Corey Kluber

Pending free agent RP: Kenley Jansen, Trevor Rosenthal, Brad Hand, Andrew Miller, Jeurys Familia, Archie Bradley, Raisel Iglesias, Adam Ottavino, Kirby Yates
