Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted March 22, 2021 Posted March 22, 2021 I think it's because there's a big disconnect between the message board geeks like us, the average fan, and the person who is watching a game and doesn't really know much. You can't really cater to all three in one broadcast. Is it too much to ask for someone who doesn't make s*** up or straight up tell lies a few times every game? Someone who isn't drunk and actually follows the game of baseball would be the cherry on top.
wilko Old-Timey Member Posted March 22, 2021 Posted March 22, 2021 After listening to some of the other announcing crews this spring, I'm much less bothered by Buck and Pat. I agree. I'll never take them for granted anymore. Trying to listen to that Phillies game was painful. Ricky Bottalico's a f***ing douchebag idiot.

Ryu In My House Verified Member Posted March 23, 2021 Posted March 23, 2021 Lol yep. The Philadelphia guys are f***ing horrible.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2021 Posted March 23, 2021 Best thing that Montoyo has ever said. I love the idea of no Closer and just put your best guys in the right spot. I doubt this happens though.

gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2021 Posted March 23, 2021 Kirby Yates to get TJ surgery. Lol..
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2021 Posted March 23, 2021 Well, I thought our pitching sucked prior to Pearson and Yates going down. As excited as I was about Springer and Semien etc.. I thought we would be hovering around .500. Now, I am not anymore optimistic..
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2021 Posted March 23, 2021 Yates is done, Springer as a Grade 2 oblique strain and Robbie Ray will miss a start with a bruised elbow after slipping on stairs carrying his kid. OUR PETS HEADS ARE FALLING OFF!

Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2021 Posted March 23, 2021 We're going to see some young kids get a taste of the majors this year aren't we.... Richardson, Manoah...
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2021 Posted March 23, 2021 Porcello for 1/5 time, get it done Ross.

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2021 Posted March 23, 2021 I’d look into Shane Greene too. Yeah - if we added Porcello and Greene, we'd probably be in a better place. Can't imagine that costs more than $15M total. I guess those 2 have been holding out in hopes that something like this happens and they are suddenly in demand. The real piss of is we might have had a chance at Trevor Rosenthal - but once we signed Yates, no other closer was interested in Toronto.

I don't think there's any way we have $15M to spend, otherwise we would have signed or traded for some expensive one year contracts a lot earlier than this. We probably have at most like a $5-10M rainy day fund remaining which might include in-season/trade deadline acquisitions.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2021 Posted March 23, 2021 Im a bit surprised Porcello is still available
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted March 24, 2021 Posted March 24, 2021 Man I hope they Jays put Springer on the 10 day DL to start the season. There's a reason we have Grichuk on the bench. Don't jeopardize Springer's for the long term because you want him there for opening day.

Some big player has a small injury, “should be ready for opening day”, then plays game 1 and 2 and gets put on the DL for a month.

Remember that everyone, not just pitchers, needs to go from 60 to 162 games.
