Well that sucks, exclusive licensing is never good for the consumer. Upper Deck has been the exclusive licensee for the NHL for nearly 10 years now and the innovation has virtually stopped, along with higher prices every year for the same crap.

I’m not a fan of Fanatics. Most of the Bluejays stuff I bought looks so awesome in the pictures and then when it comes it’s poorly made bs. Some stuff was alright but most wasn’t, so don’t shop there anymore

I will admit I'm probably a little ignorant on this, but why is impersonating someone's accent racist? Isn't it stereotyping?

 

Well for one thing, he and the rest of the Japanese people probably don't sound like that. How would you like it as a Canadian if everyone "impersonated" you by doing their impression of some French Quebec douche or an inbred Newfie hoser? You could probably ignore the first few times but after a while it's going to be a punchable moment. But then YOU go to jail for assault.

The Jays care about optics. They make decisions based on what fans or media think, not necessarily what makes the team better short or long term. It's why they started rebuilding in July 2018 instead of July 2017, and why they didn't trade Semien or Ray when it was the biggest seller's market in at least 5 years, if not more. The Rays win every year because they don't have any fans so they don't give a s*** what perception is. Seattle hasn't made the playoffs in 2 decades and even they aren't so jaded to bet on a long shot rather than make sensible moves. Hell, the Yankees in 2016 were basically in the same spot as the Jays were at the deadline, probably a little better, and still sold rather than aim for a 2nd WC spot.

 

I like Shatkins, but if you want to find a weakness, this is a big one (aside from Montoyo, which is the biggest weakness).

 

What a terrible weakness to have. A desire to go for it when they think the team is ready. I'd much rather have J.P. Ricciardi back. He was efficient at running the 25 man roster and definitely didn't care about perception but sucked balls at drafting and player development so the team never had the top end talent to be a serious contender. I take no issue with what the Blue Jays have done.
