connorp Old-Timey Member Posted March 25, 2021 Posted March 25, 2021 Nah - Kenny Williams came out today and said they wouldn't manipulate his service time. If he's ready, he plays. Said something about how Tony has the final call on whether he makes the team or something. What else would he say, at least if he doesn’t work for Seattle and values his job? There’s always stuff that needs fine tuning- that couple weeks of fine tuning that coincidently pushes you just across the service time threshold That said, in this case I think it’s legit but just saying even if it wasn’t, he’d be saying same thing

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted March 25, 2021 Posted March 25, 2021 Vladdy was touted as a generational hitting prospect though. He's also a year younger than Vaughn lmao and entering his third season of MLB baseball. Vlad was putting up all-time great comparable minor league performances while Vaughn was in his senior year of high school. It more he was suggesting why worry about the 7th year for a guys who's a 1st/DH... I get it. There's a good chance Vaughn's a f***ing stud with the bat too though.
Laika Community Moderator Posted March 25, 2021 Posted March 25, 2021 Eloy Jimenez might be out 6 months with a torn pectoral muscle. Yikes. He has never looked like an outfielder to me. Very lumbering. Can Andrew Vaughn play LF? ha
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted March 25, 2021 Posted March 25, 2021 That lineup doesn’t really need Vaughn anyways. Scoring runs isn’t going to be a problem for them, especially if it’s only for two weeks. They do now - Eloy is out 5-6 months.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted March 25, 2021 Posted March 25, 2021 They do now - Eloy is out 5-6 months. Fantasy offers commence!

max silver Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2021 Posted March 26, 2021 Ouch f*** Hooray bad AL East injury news that finally isn't a Jays player. Although it's been a bit of a tough year for AL East contenders with season long bullpen losses. Yankees lost Britton, Jays lost Yates and now Anderson for the Rays. All three teams still have pretty stout looking pens even without these guys though.

Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted March 27, 2021 Posted March 27, 2021 Luke Voit has a partial meniscus tear. He’s not gonna play games until atleast May. Ouch. Kinda feel a bit bad for the guy, he’s absolutely raking when he’s on the field but he’s been dealing with nagging injuries to his legs the last couple seasons. Could potentially prevent him from cashing in when he’s finally a free agent

Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2021 Posted March 28, 2021 Including ours. Can we trade for one of the losers! How much of the Price contract does it make sense to take on in return for the privilege of acquiring him for a b prospect?
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2021 Posted March 28, 2021 How much of the Price contract does it make sense to take on in return for the privilege of acquiring him for a b prospect? LAD pays him like $15m year, right? If I’m a giant market club I’m not sure I give that away. Great SP depth certainly doesn’t hurt, especially this year with the IP issues for everyone

Great SP depth certainly doesn’t hurt, especially this year with the IP issues for everyone I think it's 16 a year. The Dodgers are at 275 mil in payroll coming off a year of big losses. 16 mil reduction in payroll saves them 7 mil in tax and brings them down 23 mil. Next year the Dodgers have guys to sign. Kershaw and Seager. What happens if Kershaw has a better year than Bauer and Bauer is on the books for 45 mil for 2022. What do you think Kershaw acts for on a 2 year deal when he's still dealing? The Dodgers seem like an endless pit of money, but maybe they aren't.

I know the GSW paid $85m just in luxury tax to sign Kelly Oubre. Can’t compare the two obviously but what we do know is how the Dodgers went after Bauer knowing their situation, as well as the fact that at worst the Price contact is neutral (their contract 2/32 or whatever), so if they wanted to dump him that prob could’ve happened rather easily to a number of teams
