Ohtani is pitching and hitting leadoff today. Hasn't happened in a regular season game since 1901.

Led off with a clean single against Snell.

And a walk tossing high 90's, lol.

Ohtani leading off and goes 2-2 with a walk and an opposite field double off the wall. On the mound he strikes out 5 over 4 great innings sitting 99-101.

Days like today remind you how fun it would be if he can put a healthy season together.

I just want at least one season of him killing it as both a hitter and pitcher. Maybe at some point he'll have to give up the pitching, but one great season would be nice to watch.

I'm glad he looks good, but it's a little sad seeing Paxton throwing fire.

Hopefully Matz and Ray keep up the good performances, but man it would be a lot more comfortable going into the season with Ryu/Ray/Paxton/Matz/Pearson.

Royals just signed Salvador Perez to a 4 year, $82M extension.

That seems like a terrible overpay.

lmao wtf

Holy fist f***. That's insane.

Pretty remarkable to have one of the top 5 worst contracts in the MLB the second the ink dries.

1.9 wins in 37 games last year. He killed it!

ZIPS does project 6.8 WAR for the next 3 seasons and it's likely that his defensive value is not properly calculated, but that's still a big overpay.

He may end up being worth it from a $/WAR perspective according to their internal projections, but I don’t think any team would approach close to that number for him. The Royals probably could’ve had him back for much less.

I'm sorry but WHAT!?

IN THIS ECONOMY!!?!?!!?!

Not disagreeing with you about the economy, but the bad economy looks pretty good to people like Dayton Moore.

Stonks - High

White collar salary - High

401K - High (because Stonks are high)

Jobs - good if you can zoom

Why would the economy look bad to some guy like Dayton Moore ? Especially since they will probably allow enough fans into Kauffman to allow KC to have a pretty much normal revenue. Economy is great for Dayton Moore.

In any economy that is the dumbest thing i have seen..... he has never lets pay this f***ing guy 20+ million a year even though he has NEVER broke 2 WAR except for 2013 where he had a career year. WTF lol

he has a very amazing streak going where he has more homers than walks for several years running (OK tied one year).

In fact more homers than walks in career. I wonder who else has done that.. I checked Tony Bautista. No he has not done that. I bet Joe Carter didn't even come close.

Zac Gallen might be broken

And he got injured hitting as well.

The quicker the universal DH gets implemented, the better.

Eno coming in hot:

I know our rotation gets a lot of s***, but the Yankees rotation is just as, if not more susceptible to falling apart IMO. Cole is Cole, but Kluber is coming off major surgeries at age 35, and Taillon is coming off his second TJ. Their rotation has more upside, but I think we have better depth.

Although knowing them, Domingo German or Deivi Garcia will end up posting 5 WAR seasons.

Gallen was diagnosed with a hairline fracture in his right forearm Tuesday.

Analysis:The 25-year-old was scratched from Monday's scheduled start with lateral soreness in his right foreman, and a hairline fracture was revealed upon further examination. It's unclear how long Gallen is expected to be sidelined, though he'll apparently be able to continue playing catch at "a low stress level" from the start of his recovery. The right-hander should be considered out indefinitely until a more concrete return timeline is provided by the team, though it's safe to assume he'll be unavailable for the start of the season with Opening Day little more than one week away.

Weird one. That could be.... good news?

Twice during the offseason, the results of Kirby Yates’ physicals raised red flags.

The first time, the Braves declined to finalize a one-year, $9 million agreement with the free-agent closer, according to major-league sources. The second time, the Blue Jays reduced a proposed one-year, $8.5 million guarantee for Yates to $5.5 million, believing his upside was high enough to justify the risk.
