That almost certainly would put them out on Springer, so...

I think fans thinking we might get Lindor, very realistic. Getting Springer.. def possibility but some things working against us. Bauer, mmm difficult to tell, but my gut tells me no. DJL, I never thought he would come here and those who did were living a pipe dream IMO.

Guys like JBjr, Semien, Didi, much more realistic.

You're better off over paying and getting one impact free agent

All the Jays can f***ing do is talk to the guy and offer him a contract, it takes 2 to tango, folks. It's as if they haven't been aggressive, right? *smh*

All the more reason they should have been in on Darvish which was not a big asking price. They could have got Darvish and Bryant in a package deal and solved 3rd base and the rotation for next year.

I'd rather have Price at 2 and 32. Stripling for Price. Go make the trade. The Dodgers can go over the cap, but it seems like a point of pride with management staying under having been under the last 3 years. This would give them some salary flexibility to deploy capital elsewhere.

What suggests that the Dodgers would want Stripling back? They moved him because they didn't have room for him.

I hope we go out and sign Springer. I just don't see his market. I would love to start praising management again. A springer signing would certainly move me back into the happy fan camp.

I agree

Especially when:

You have a glaring need that's hard to fill (front end starter, CF)

Getting said player vaults you into serious contention

You have a roster full guys likely to offset the balance sheet with positive value

Gonsolin is their 6th starter! If the Dodgers want to stay under the cap for the 4th year in a row, which they may not it gives them salary flexibility and Stripling is a much better 6th man. Gonsolin should be in the rotation.

And you know they weren't? Was this documented. Oh yeah, a participation ribbon... pffftt!

I would never assume that. The Martinez signing might be a pre-cursor to other moves where they move some salary etc. They also have Cano money to play with this year, so they could front load a contract or something like that..

fans are going to be entirely grumpy until something gets done. It was one thing when there were plenty of of options on the table, but as guys fly off the board the anxiety will go up! DJ and hand now gone.

Now reporting that is not accurate and only in "discussion" nothing solid yet.

Olney just reported that Hand to the Mets not a done deal. I'd actually rather have Yates or Rosenthal and would love the Mets to spend more Springer money, so I hope that one gets done.

According to a source the #Yankees deal with LeMahieu will be for more than 4 years……now question is it 5 or 6 years...

MLB, fearing the pandemic could create havoc with scheduling, is planning to bring back 7-inning doubleheaders and runner on 2nd base in extra innings in talks with the union. The universal DH and expanded playoffs still being negotiated.

LeMahieu deal with Yankees expected to be 4-5 years and $85M-$90M, source tells The Athletic. Sides were still discussing a variety of structures last night. On it: @JonMorosi.

The first free agent contract I wish the Jays could have signed. But again I suspect he was going back to the Yankees no matter what.

Passan is saying DJ's deal is 6/90.

Only 15M AAV

If that's true Yankees are clearly trying to keep payroll down by extending the contract to more years than you would have expected

Prob keeps their payroll low enough to re sign Tanaka or get Paxton or Kluber

This is such ********!! The sky is not falling. Play fnnn baseball 162 games 9 innings. FFS!

6 and 90. The Jays could have easily topped that offer.

What, like 5/100? Would that have been enough to pry him away?

I’ll be surprised if it’s 6/90, likely 5/90. Weren’t reports Yankees offer was 4/80?

I’m sure Jays would’ve had to beat 5/90 by quite a bit. Not sad until Springer signs

Source: Dodgers offered LeMahieu 4/60. Blue jays offered him 4/78

Braves were interested. Mets were too.

Also being told he was very close to going to Toronto

Yes I believe 5 and 100 would have been enough to get him from the Yankees who offered 6 and 90. 5 and 95 might have got it done.

OMG these guyz r all talk and no biz!!! Rogers is supossed to have so much money and all we end up with r second place trophys for runner ups on good free agents. Fire shapiro an Atkins now they obviously dont have a clue how to run a baseball team

4/78?

GFY Shatkins. Where are these rumours of the Jays willing to offer 5/100 for him?

Get ready for second tier signings, maybe.

This management team won't go the extra year to sign a guy. The Yankees and dodgers get discounts because players want to go there. It all adds up to us not getting squat on the free agent market. It's time to look to the trade market. Go get Bryant.

Maybe you shouldn't listen to rumors.
