Huh... you know this entire conversation is related to the Cubs eliminating payroll, right? They don't want Grichuk, and they would not do that trade.

Jim Callis and company think we'll be protecting these 6 guys and adding them to 40. That would mean we drop Valera or Fisher, likely the former...

We might be losing some arms to the rule 5, but likely have them returned.

So Davish was a 3 win player in 60 games and his salary actually went up a million a year because of performance bonuses and his cost is Espinal. Giddy up. Where do I sign..lol. There is a possibility the Cubs go into fire sale mode and he might come at a discount, but it's probably going to cost more than Espinal!

You're giving away our Canadian! If we're taking on Kimbrel at one and 17 mil with the risk of a vesting option I have to include Roark going the other way. Darvish is basically Bauer, but he's 10 to 15 mil a year cheaper and you only have a 3 year commitment. Now he's got age risk. Can he keep this level up for one more year, 2 years or 3? He's an interesting guy and they probably want more prospect wise.

For an ace with 3 years left on his contract, a potential 3-5 win upgrade at 3B and a formerly elite reliever who's probably an environment change away from being good again? How else do you think we'd be in play for a package like that, even with Bryant and Kimbrel's values being down?

What about trading for Kyle Hendricks? He has 3 years remaining (around $42M) + a vesting option I believe. I wonder if the price tag is significantly lower than it is for Darvish simply because he's a smoke and mirrors guy v. the dominant upside that Darvish brings?

Jays almost had a deal for Joe Musgrove at the deadline but it fell apart at the last minute so they went with Ray and Stripling instead. Wouldn't mind the Jays and Cherington revisiting that this winter, though it will cost real prospects.

I'd trade Manoah and Moreno straight up for Darvish. We have Jansen and Kirk and Riley Adams impressed at the alternate site and is closer to being major league ready. Manoah could be Noah Syndergaard, but he could be Jeff Hoffman. Darvish was arguably the best pitcher in the National league last year. He's 23, 20 and 19 over the next 3 years. If we get another ace we have a shot at winning next year. Ryu is fantastic but by the time Manoah get here in 2023 he might not be as good. Let's not waste 2021 and 2022 Ryu. If we didn't have young catchers in Jansen and Kirk trading Moreno might not make as much sense. We're loaded with young players. We need some proven vets.

The Pirates have a few pitchers that I think would be upgrades in TO. Some of them it is buy low time IMO.. I wonder if they could do a package deal and get two...

Didi seems so underrated. It's almost insane that 2/25 might actually be what he signs for. I'm definitely on board with adding Didi. I never thought he got enough credit for the job he did stepping in to replace Jeter.

Jays have 5 catchers on the 40 man roster now. There's still some replaceable parts that they can remove when they need a spot opened up (Shaw, Wags, Fisher), but there will definitely be a trade or two involving the catching depth.
