How can you be scared to catch fly balls at major league level.

 

For f*** sakes, spend a week straight in the off-season shagging fly-balls and you think you'd feel more confident/less scared about it.

Charlie should have tried to squeeze a bit more out of Walker before pulling him. The Jays are f***ed for the next week, at least.

 

How much more could he squeeze out of him. He was over 30 pitches in the inning. He was completely gassed. If he asked him to get that last out he could have injured himself.

The rest for Grichuk is fine - Fisher needed the mercy rule. He was in long enough that it wasn't a benching (save face) but I'm starting to feel bad for the guy. He's totally lost his mojo.

As others have pointed out, the networks wont allow that because they already charged for television advertising space.

Also fans who paid for tickets wont like having to leave in the 6th inning already.

Who the hell is still watching a 17-3 game as this one was after 6 innings. Fans would all be heading for the exits also (if any were there).

We played 29 games in 27 days! It's not a normal year with normal off days. Guys nowadays take off days in a regular season when there are many off days. We don't need to lose a key guy in a meaningless game. Randal has had a tough stretch and probably could use a mental and physical break even with the off day yesterday.

Some fans would leave, some would stay. The bigger issue is the loss of ad revenue for the networks though.

 

If you cut off a game in the 6th inning networks would probably lose over a million dollars in ad revenue. I'm basing that on 6 minutes of commercials (not including pitching changes) X 3 innings = 18 minutes worth of advertising at approximately $50,000 per TV commercial.

 

Thats a lot of money, even for Sportsnet (which is really Rogers)
