Montoyo still counting the moral W's.

Translation : "I was not expecting another opportunity to gift wrap the Rays a win with more bone head decisions"

Anxiously awaiting the notification on my phone that says "Blue Jays have fired Manager Charlie Montoyo"

He's not going anywhere. There just has to be an honest conversation. So when we were up one run with the bases loaded you brought in Bergen instead of Romano. Romano has reverse splits and Lefties have a .463 OPS against Romano for his career. Why did you do that? Charlie just needs to learn from his mistakes. This is all we can hope for. They aren't getting rid of him. You learn more in failure than you do in success. There was a lot of learning to be done this past weekend! Hopefully we benefit the rest of the season from this crappy weekend. There, that's my silver lining..lol.

Why exactly are they keeping this guy around?

Is there anything positive about him aside from the fact he's a "players manager"...?

Shapiro/Atkins not firing him after the sample dating back to the beginning of the 2020 season has now shifted the blame onto them imo.

This end of game s*** show is the most disgusting I have ever seen.

Get rid od Montoyo already.

We have a good team, and a good team for years to come. You can't let that idiot to ruin it.

It's like you let a drunk to try your new Ferrari.

Our very own John Schneider is a suitable replacement

Last week this would have been a great move, today, this move is needed or this front office needs to answer for it.

You just can't make this up. Absolutely ruined the rest of my day and likely all of tomorrow's off day. Unbelievable. Two off days this week. The only thing that'll make this a positive is if he gets fired.

Walks, schmalks.....

This front office spends millions of dollars to improve our WAR, but this clown just throws games out the window. TERRIBLE!!!

We need to win 97 wins....Charlie can throw 5 or 6 away and we end up with 91 or 92 wins and hopefully a wild card. I feel like we can do it. Springer, Biggio back soon. Kirk in a month. Borucki coming back, hopefully Merryweather. We can make some additions at the trade deadline.

Charlie isn't going anywhere. Wasting effort thinking about it does no one any good. Just believe we can overcome it. It's like thinking maybe they might let Romano pitch twice in one day when he's made 8 pitches in the last 5 days with day off tomorrow. Sure it was theoretically possible Romano could have been asked to get 2 outs in the second game, but it was never going to happen. Brining Romano out for a 2nd inning after throwing 12 pitches in a game you really need to win. Just not going to happen.

“He’s been lights out,” Montoyo continued. “You know, the funny thing about it — we’re talking about just the one game. We took two out of three from the Yankees; two out of three from [Cleveland.] And we’re talking about one bad inning. You know what I’m saying?

“Yeah, maybe we could have taken him out. Yeah, all that stuff. But he’s one of our best relievers. You’ve got to trust somebody one time and let them get out of trouble.”

I'll give it to Buntoyo. He'd be a really solid little league coach. Try hard, let the kids develop their skills, wins don't matter. He's got the skill set.

That’s great if we’re the Pittsburg Pirate or Baltimore Orioles. Maybe he can manage them instead?

What I wouldn't give to have Gibby at the helm of this club.

I like Gibby too, and would be perfectly happy to see him still in charge.

However in 2015 he had

a lights out 20 year old Roberto Osuna

a lights out 22 year old Aaron Sanchez who was nails as a reliever

Liam Hendricks in the midst of his first great, great relief season that no one appreciated for some reason

Brett Cecil having a great season

Mark Lowe

Latroy Hawkins

Ryan Tepara as like the 7th guy

This board has lots it's mind. No Gibby would not be 6 games better with crap bullpen we have, he'd make different choices and they'd lose different games, different ways, and still be about the same maybe 1 game better.

Rotowire on Chuckles... :P

New Player Note Sun, May 30

Tyler Chatwood allowed two runs on one hit and five walks to blow the save and take the loss against Cleveland on Sunday.

Advice: Chatwood had a complete meltdown on the mound during the second game of a doubleheader Sunday against Cleveland. He relieved starter Steven Matz in the sixth inning with two runners on and allowed a base hit by Jose Ramirez to put Cleveland within one run. With runners on the corners and no outs, he got Harold Ramirez to ground into a double play that would plate the tying run. After Toronto took a one-run lead in the seventh, Chatwood was on to finish the game and walked four consecutive batters to let the tying run score once again. It's anyone's guess what took manager Charlie Montoyo so long to pull Chatwood, who clearly didn't have it as he tossed just seven strikes on 32 pitches. Jordan Romano had converted the save in the first game, so Chatwood is unlikely to see the ninth inning going forward.

Player Note Sun, May 23

Tyler Chatwood melted down in spectacular fashion on Sunday, surrendering four runs on two hits and a pair of walks, while recording only two outs, in an ugly blown save against the Rays.

Advice: Yikes. Chatwood came on in the top of the ninth inning to guard a two-run lead and immediately got into trouble, allowing Ji-Man Choi and Brandon Lowe to reach base safely, before finally recording an out. He coughed up an RBI single to Brett Phillips, and got Randy Arozarena to line out, before issuing a two-out walk to Yandy Diaz, which loaded the bases and also chased him from the contest. Lefty Travis Bergen came on and was unable to put out the massive fire, issuing three consecutive walks with the bases loaded. If there was any chance of Chatwood taking over as the Jays' primary closer, this outing probably eliminates that possibility.

Its definitely not just the one game Chatwood has been bad... Has he been watching the same games we are?

That's what Shi Davidi asked him about, his recent performance and dating back to him as a starter with command issues, that's when Chuckles got heated, lol.
