G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 5, 2020 Posted August 5, 2020 I don't think I've ever seen a 2-seamer with that much run. The rotation is so good even without Ryu
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2020 Posted August 5, 2020 That guy’s ultra competitive. His wrist might have to break right off to take him out of the lineup again. He was probably foaming at the mouth watching Bonifacio play in his place.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2020 Posted August 5, 2020 Aaron Judge homered today for the first time this season, I think. 'Bout time.

Laika Community Moderator Posted August 6, 2020 Posted August 6, 2020 Look at Sean Manaea's velocity trend: https://www.fangraphs.com/players/sean-manaea/15873/graphs?pitchgraphs=true&statArr=&legend=1&split=base&time=daily&start=2016&end=2020&rtype=mult>1=15&dStatArray=FA&ymin=&ymax= Guy came up as a power lefty in 2016 and now he has less velo than 33 year old Ryu
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2020 Posted August 6, 2020 Anyone else watching the Padres / Dodgers? What is this looper Stripling is throwing 50% of the time? Not a knuckler, but knuckler speed.

Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2020 Posted August 6, 2020 Knuckle curve? Probably an Eephus. Kershaw throws it too.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2020 Posted August 6, 2020 Probably an Eephus. Kershaw throws it too. I didn't see the pitch, but an eephus is a surprise pitch that you can throw once or twice, not 50% of the time.

That's what I thought, but it is effective enough he's throwing it 3x in a row in some cases and the Padres can't even get wood on it. Maybe the knuckle curve Spanky mentioned.

Maybe the knuckle curve Spanky mentioned. How loopy are we talking about here? According to baseballsavant he's thrown a knuckle curve for 18 pitches of his pitches, roughly about the same frequency as the fastball, and it's averaged 79 mph, as low as 77. From watching Stripling before he usually throws his fastball around 90-92 with his knuckle curve around high 70s and will mix in one or two other secondaries.

Some pitchers also throw a slow curveball like Greinke which he throws with some frequency usually around 68-72 mph.

You can take way off a knuckle curve, I did all the time,

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 6, 2020 Posted August 6, 2020 That Dodgers rotation gives you a lot of different looks. Not fun to adjust to I'm sure.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 6, 2020 Posted August 6, 2020 Mike Trout rapidly making it up to fantasy owners with a quiet 2 HR performance last night (overshadowed in a loss by Kyle Seagers big game)

He's been excellent this season in all three of his starts. I'm rooting for him now that he's away from the Orioles, and god knows the Angels could use him healthy and pitching to his potential.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2020 Posted August 7, 2020 Look, you may have not enjoyed the adventures of Teoscar in the outfield, Bo and Biggio occasionally botching a routine grounder, or Vlad struggling to keep himself balanced due to his weight. Just consider yourself lucky we don't have to witness this on a daily basis. https://bdata-producedclips.mlb.com/730e95ab-deea-4122-9b70-2c881bba10f5.mp4
