Good. f*** him.

I don’t know. I’d probably think less of him he merrily played out his contract sucking ass ala Chris Davis

He definitely could’ve done that. He certainly wasn’t going to the HOF already

Someone like Miggy or Pujols would have more to lose

BREAKING: New York Mets second baseman Robinson Cano has tested positive for a performance-enhancing drug and will be suspended for the entire 2021 season, sources familiar with the situation tell ESPN. He will forfeit a $24 million salary. News story will be up soon at ESPN.

lol... what a dumbass. Guess he's retiring... :P'

He’s got like 2/50 after next year, right?

2/48

I can't see him walking away willingly after taking a 24M haircut this season.

Cano has 2/48 left on his contract after this season. Since he's losing all of the $24m in 2021, I can't see him retiring and missing out on the $48m he has left. He's clearly lost his HOF chances, though. If he didn't lose it after the first suspension, then he has definitely lost it now.

I'd say Cohen probably made some friends with those in charge of running the tests but looking at Cano's numbers they're actually not that bad this past year. He might have been able to play up to that contract with maybe 3+ WAR. Then again if it was roid-aided...

This means the Mets just became that much more active on the FA market. A $24 million windfall for a guy who was already likely to spend.

Yeah, you're right, what an albatross of a contract.

The contract worked wonderfully for the Mariners. He gave them 20.7 WAR for 5/120 (roughly $6M per win) and then netted them a top 10 prospect +. Enviable position for any team to be able to get elite production for the first half of an ugly contract before it becomes an albatross and then not have to pay a single dime of that back end, let alone get a top prospect for the privilege of not doing so.

Yes, I was leaning heavily in that comment towards the Mets, lol.

Welp... lol

At least Nelson Cruz isn't cheating though, right?

No man, he's Frank The Tank!!! lol, who knows, we can do this in every decade back to the 50's/60's.

Damn, he's been incredible with the bat since '13 man, crazy.

The s***** part about this is that the Mets probably have an extra 24 million to spend on free agents. Like we needed that...

They were to outbid teams on top tier guys, not much changes for their pen need. Right.

Or hang on to to pay for a 'roidless borderline unplayable Cano the last two years.

Yeah of course lol, I was just pointing that out. Rare occurrence for a team where they're able to come out ahead on a mega deal contract.

I'd be willing to bet a significant percentage of the league is on some kind of PEDs. Most are probably just getting away with it.

Yes, that swayed perfectly for a disaster, same as Pujols and Wells to a degree. lol

It's not that easy to get away with anymore. That's why people are getting caught. This is the 2nd time for Cano. I would bet the vast majority of the league is not using.

Ah well. MLB got weirdos like us that love the sport.

I disagree but I don't have sources to back up my claim so I'm not going to argue on this. I feel like if this is the second time for Cano he was probably always using and has just happened to be caught twice, less so that he was dumb and took PEDs twice and they popped him both times.

Yeah, my buddies saw needles all over the clubhouse. I mean legit being used, they never did and even now think it might've cost them a career.

Who know's...

Yeah and Trump really won the election. Conspiracy theories! With randomized testing, players don't know when they will be tested and when this is the case it's extremely difficult to beat. The covid season probably made PED testing a lot more lax. Robbie just rolled the dice and lost. Good players get tested way more frequently. Robbie wasn't that good anymore. Maybe he thought he wouldn't get tested.

Oh yeah

MLB network callers are already spending it with abandon
