Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2020 Posted August 2, 2020 So Ohtani was pretty f***ing bad today in his 2nd start. Got through the first clean but then walked 5 batters in the 2nd inning and got pulled. Final line: 1.2 innings, 0 hits, 2 runs, 3 Ks, 5 BBs

Final line: 1.2 innings, 0 hits, 2 runs, 3 Ks, 5 BBs It shouldn’t be really surprising about his command to be honest. He just hasn’t pitched much and he’s coming off a major surgery. And because hes also the teams regular DH he can’t solely focus on it. Even if the minor league season was going he wouldn’t have the luxury of making multiple minor league starts to try to figure it out. Angels really have no choice but to throw him out on the mound and hope he can recapture his form again. Rough situation. Not really sure what else they could do but let him throw simulated games until he starts to look like himself again.

It might be time for the transition to full-time OF.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2020 Posted August 3, 2020 Pretty much. For 99% of the Astros, I hope they get humiliated on the field as much as possible, but keep it on the field - them getting hurt is going too far. Osuna is the one single exception - I don't feel the slightest bit bothered by him getting hurt, to put it mildly. I hope that they're able to find him and that everything is okay with him. I'd imagine this probably isn't a Darryl Kile situation since they'd probably have checked his hotel room by now. I just hope that this is something we can laugh at afterwards, like another D-Rose situation where he just took off and didn't tell anyone. Good for you, man. You get +1 million virtue points.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 3, 2020 Posted August 3, 2020 Kershaw season debut 5 2/3 scoreless innings with six strikeouts and no walks in a 3-0 win over the D-backs Anyone else think a shortened season might be good for Kershaw and his post season capabilities?

philly30 Verified Member Posted August 3, 2020 Posted August 3, 2020 It has been over a week since they all tested positive at least most of them, theoretically they should be getting guys back soon, but as with Soto that has been a mess

Must have been a pitcher who went out, their whole SP staff is wiped out
BTS Community Moderator Posted August 3, 2020 Posted August 3, 2020 Some of their players went out to a casino.
Ex Player Verified Member Posted August 3, 2020 Posted August 3, 2020 What did I tell you guys earlier, this entire season will turn into a farce very quickly (if it hasnt already)
Thaddeus Malice Verified Member Posted August 3, 2020 Posted August 3, 2020 7 players and 6 staffers tested positive? From going out to a casino? Complete and utter idiots.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2020 Posted August 3, 2020 Hopefully this is a wake up call for the players. The Marlins and Cards seem to be the careless exception rather than the norm, but if they want to get through September and into October, then the players have to be disciplined.
Ehjays Verified Member Posted August 3, 2020 Posted August 3, 2020 Wow, I will try to post this Picture but nice to see the Pirates doing this. Basically at home games when a foul ball is hit close to a season ticket subscribers seat, they retrieve the ball and send it to him through the mail with a letter saying we wish you were here...
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2020 Posted August 3, 2020 I posted earlier that there should be consequences if a team has an outbreak like the Marlins and Cards. There has to be good reason for teams and the players to take responsibility and follow the protocols. Since putting the life/health of your teammates and team staff at risk doesn't seem to be sufficient.

Do they disinfect it and certify it COVID free before they send it to you?

BTS Community Moderator Posted August 4, 2020 Posted August 4, 2020 AA is going to have to trade for a SP. With Hamels and Soroka out that rotation is Fried and a bunch of question marks.
