29 years old. He could be a valuable two-way player!

If the stars were to fully align we could see a game where Anthony Gose pitches to Jose Bautista and vice versa. Gose could actually be an interesting player though, pinch runner, backup outfielder, reliever all rolled into one.

This is awesome stuff

This shot at the astros just prior is also awesome

Lots of good content out there today. Trevor Bauer continuing his MVP offseason:

We need some video of Bauer telling Beaty what's coming. You see it at the end of the Dietrich interview (which is equally as awesome)

The video one didn’t work for me last week, was trying to link a YouTube clip

Embedding video only works in the Off Topic forum.

I'm liking MLB trying new things. Giving the players a mic in the regular season might not be as popular with players due to the games actually meaning something, but this is a great way to show their personalities. If they have done this before, I haven't seen it.

Coronavirus now starting to affect pro sports. Officials from the NBA, NHL and MLB say they are all consulting with the CDC and other organizations on a regular basis.

And now the World Baseball Softball Confederation has postponed its final qualification tournament for the Tokyo Olympics. The six-team event that was supposed to take place in 4 weeks will instead take place in 4 months.

I take it you don't watch the NFL because players being mic'd is almost exclusively cringe inducing. When Russell Wilson was mic'd, I'm pretty sure the only thing he said was "let's go, baby!" About 40 times.

Yeah don't watch the NFL. I'm sure it can get annoying depending on who is mic'd up, but baseball letting players show their personality is a good thing, even if it's only spring games.

Chris Sale sore elbow, getting an MRI.

RIP in pieces

It's been a good news bad news kind of off-season for new managerial hire Ron Roenicke. Good news is getting hired in the first place, but it's the result of a cheating scandal, not exactly because you earned a managerial spot after an extensive hiring process. And the bad news has come in spades, with the Red Sox trading away their best player plus one of their better rotation options, and now with the potential long term loss of Sale things look even more bleak.

They should consider taking a page out of the XFL's playbook and interview them during the game when the player is on the bench. Mic'ing them live kind of sucks it's a bunch of garbage. All the interesting stuff is what they are thinking not their excitement about things happening. And don't have the commentary crew do it, have the sideline reporter do it which will make them more useful.

Interviewing a kicker after a missed FG or a QB after a s*** drive is pretty entertaining. Interviewing a batter after his 3rd strikeout or a fielder after he makes an error might provide similar entertainment.

Glad to see Yelich get paid despite being locked in about the most team friendly contract out there.

Wow, Sale has 5/145 left on his contract.

Wish Dombrowski stayed in Boston a bit longer.

All signs, and buzz, are pointing to TJ surgery.

Wow, that's insane. He'd be done for 2020 and probably a good portion of 2021.

Yeah, classy move. Helps both parties out.

"The cleanup in baseball is about to begin. ... MLB is informing clubs about planned in-game protocols to bar non-uniformed personnel from the clubhouse, close video rooms, turn off all live video feeds except for the replay review monitor, and crack down on the use of 'engineered' substance mixtures by pitchers."
