Hard to see why a guy like Yoshi would see the Rays as such a good fit. Does he want to just platoon forever and get treated like a strat-o-matic card?

I was wondering that too. The Rays seem like one of the worst destinations in the league for someone like Tsutsugo. They won’t use him in the OF ever, and already have Choi and Lowe at 1B

I feel like any player who signs with the Rays, as a free agent or an extension, deserves what they get.

Shithole stadium, no fanbase, a front office that underpays big league talent and trades them away at the drop of a hat for having the audacity of being arbitration eligible. I mean I know it's Florida so it will have advantages, but for the life of me I can't understand why anyone would voluntarily sign there, much less take less money to do it.

It's always been harder to attract big league talent to Toronto. That's why when you have stars like Donaldson Stroman Price and they want to stay you keep them

Guess we are finding that all over again.

Yeah, we absolutely should have outbid Boston for Price... That wouldn't have crippled the franchise or anything :P

The guy has a degree in mathematics (I assume cause he is Asian) he admires the way they do things.

Jay let another player slip past them. Then the jays management wonders why

blue jays fans are upset with them. Like i said before all talk no action.

Crippled the franchise lmao

He is making 30 million a year to pitch like a 3rd starter. His season with the Jays he worth 6.7WAR (both teams)

He had one good year in Boston at 4.4 and now the last three were 1.5,2.4 and 2.3. A lot of that WAR value is him being hurt a lot, but he is seeing drops in his key ratios.

For the record I was hopeful that the Blue Jays would re-sign Price, but they were very lucky not to.

And i said the exact same as you before the inaction. It has become blatantly obvious what they are and what they made us, a small town franchise , with fans taken for a ride

Valid point, but you dont build a winner just by avoiding to make mistakes

As a fan, i much rather they make mistakes, but hit home runs that will make us a champion contender year in year out.

When a player is choosing the rays, over the jays, it is a message in itself

Would a prime minister implementing an equal sport playing field tax to all professional athletes playing in Canada, getting paid in US funds, to pay the median tax of all the state taxes help the Jays attract better talent?

Eg. If the median for all state taxes is 11%, then that is what athletes in Canada get charged.

I like your thought process. However, I think with a govt that believes in high taxes in the first place, that would create a lot of controversy as to perception of the rich not paying their fair share and why would the average Joe and Pierre (in your guys case) have to pay the tax rate but a multi-millionaire athlete doesn't.

Although, I do agree with it. I think the economic benefits of having winning and playoff teams to the city and country far outweighs what you lose on some guys personal tax rate. I would even go further and make it lower then US so as to attract vs solo negate the advantages of US locations.

*On another note, and maybe best left for the Politics thread. My wife and I were looking through the ratings/profiles of some local doctors down here in Florida the other day to try and find a certain type of doctor or than GP. I was very surprised how many Canadians there are.

Seems to me just in my little sample size that a lot of Canadian doctors have fled to come down to practice in US. I just don't see the advantage of losing your best and brightest professional talent and Free agent athletes.. So, I think something should be done..

You need to go to grass also!!

The Prime minister doesn't have the authority to dictate what Ontario charges for income tax. The federal tax isn't the issue. It's the provincial. Ontario's marginal rates were lower 5 to 10 years ago. They have implemented tax breaks for athletes for their signing bonuses, which allows teams to manipulate things to reduce the tax.

Here's the first article I found off google from RBC explaining.

Lost out to Tampa Bay the shitiest place in MLB. Pathetic!

The stadium sucks.

But the team is good. In a state with great weather. You could do worse.
