So like how was Cal Stevenson included here? Luhnow wanted Sanchez and Biagini on his roster for the stretch, and was willing to part with Fisher, but absolutely refused to make the trade unless mildly interesting low-minors prospect Cal Stevenson was thrown in? Ross Atkins must be awful at poker.

I agree with your final line there. Its blatantly obvious now that Atkins does not know how to negotiate/bluff.

It is wild. There is really no justification here. Luhnow sensed the desperation and got a throw-in, probably.

I keep looking at Fishers Fangraphs page, thinking I have missed some important detail.

Exit velo probably the only thing intriguing. But also that was the highlight for Morales and Grichuk.

where exactly did we get good value?

every single trade (even this bizzare trade for Fisher) got us more projected wins for 2021+ than the pieces we gave up

you enjoying your lasts few hours of posting for a while.

I think you should lose this bet on the merit of Bergen having a 6.5 xFIP and 6+ BB/9 in AAA.

My point stands. I may have lost but I still won.

Like I don't understand the inclusion of Cal Stevenson in this deal?

Why would we possibly need to toss him in to complete it? These are the types of little things in making trades that make me feel like Atkins is not very good at negotiating.

I'm fine with Atkins being in charge of the draft, but he should never be allowed to talk to another GM about a trade again. Ever.

I like three of the players we've gotten, but imo we lost on pushed on every single trade we made this deadline (except for possibly Hudson) while selling from a position of strength.

Sanchez sucks ass. I would have non-tendered him in the offseason.

I have no f***ing clue why Cal Stevenson was thrown into the deal though. Makes absolutely no sense. I wonder if the Stros wanted cash and somehow Stevenson got thrown in instead.

All 3 of these guys were under control for at least another season, there was no need to trade any of them, and yet they were all traded for a guy who... Probably is maybe as good as a healthy Alford? f***ing ghastly trade. I can defend the Stroman trade, I liked the Hudson and Sogard trades, but this one? f***ing indefensible.

If these are the only pieces in the trade, this is utterly abominable. I've kept quiet for a long time about the Jays rebuilding process as I think in general it's going pretty well, but these last few days have been extremely disappointing.

Further, watching people on this board defend the indefensible against all reason, common sense and the vast majority of the experts within major league baseball itself has been desperately depressing.

So basically he’s more of an AGM

I wanted to defend you Ross, but then you go and throw away Cal Stevenson. Please, just stop taking calls. Don't talk to other GMs.

Didn't like the trade when it was only Sanchez and Biagini for Fisher.

Adding Stevenson makes it absolutely vile. f*** right off Atkins.

Is Shitpiro trying to get themselves fired on purpose??

We flipped a prospect for someone who is actually closer to helping the team, which leads me to believe Shatkins is trying to win next year and the year after more than we think - possibly to avoid getting themselves canned

Why can't we ever truly win a trade? You see wins all the time. Would love to see it on our end.

We still paying the baseball gods back for Donaldson

I dunno man, it’s a long road to 0.500 next season. They literally have one good pitcher on the team right now.
