What's the difference between a non-concussion Dalton Pompey and Derek Fisher..?

Pompey probably gives better defense (he'd likely be young Pillar territory) and better SB ability. Fisher likely has him in every other area.

Fisher can reliably hit the ball out of the infield in AAA.

Per source: Don't be surprised if Derek Fisher, acquired in the Sanchez-Biagini trade, makes his #Bluejays debut this weekend in Baltimore.

Fisher has more power but very similar skillsets. Tommy Pham comes to mind as the type of ceiling a non-concussion Pompey and Fisher have.

Fun fact - Pompey was Baseball America #30 in 2014

The 17-year-old Pompey was one of the youngest players in the 2010 draft and signed for $150,000. He had something of a storybook season in 2014, playing at four different levels and reaching the major leagues. A plus athlete, Pompey is a premium defender. His gap-closing defense has drawn plus-plus grades from scouts. He offers an above-average arm that could play in right field. His speed is at least plus and is capable of the occasional plusplus time out of the box. He is a smart, efficient basestealer who can impact games on the bases. The switch-hitter could become an above-average hitter who draws walks at an above-average clip throughout his career while producing above-average contact rates. His quick-twitch athleticism translates to the batter's box with natural whip and bat speed. He will likely hit 10-15 home runs annually with lots of extra-base hits. Pompey's defensive and baserunning prowess gives him a high floor and the development of his bat could give him a well-rounded skill set capable of contributing in nearly every phase of the game.

His bat this year would be average with a normal BABIP. And he is fine defensively. Brings plenty of speed. And only 25.

He very well could turn into an above average MLB'er as soon as next season.

I just checked, he had a .289 BABIP this year in the MLB so I'm not sure what you're talking about.

That is low. BABIP averages around .305 IIRC, but with Fisher's 70 grade speed he should be higher than that. That would increase his 2019 wRC+ of 86 to approx. 100

So according to Atkins. Looks like were going to see Derek Fisher and his Johnny Damon arm in CF for a long time.

I think you're mis-remembering what Pompey looked like in CF...errr, maybe that was after his first concussion where he looked like a t-ball player?

As expected, they really seem to value Simeon Woods-Richardson exceptionally highly and Anthony Kay higher than industry consensus as well. Have to admire Atkins sticking to his guns and saying that he stands behind his internal rankings over the industry ones. Given that Simeon was also scouted by the same department that found the likes of Groshans and Kloffenstein in that draft, I’m confident in their ability to find good young draft talent.

That being said, the entire point of finding someone undervalued like a Simeon Woods-Richardson is so you can get more in the deal as well. I maintain that Mets would’ve given up a Dom Smith or David Peterson to get the deal done.

And a pretty decent reliever, and a guy who flashes the potential of being a lights out reliever or potentially decent starter...

Lol @ that Sanchez take. We've been waiting years for this to happen and he's been awful for all but a single season. I liked Stevenson but he has no power. Fisher is an awesome get for 3 marginal pieces and I have no idea what people are complaining about.

The majority of this board are like “anyone who disagrees with me is an idiot”. It f***ing sucks, and doesn’t promote interesting debates. But yeah it’s best to just shake your head and don’t fall for the bait.

Self awareness is at zero, holy f***.

The guy with literally half the board on ignore (mostly for disagreeing with him) is whining about a lack of debate.

Wow, really f***ing rich lol.

All 3 of these guys were under control for at least another season, there was no need to trade any of them, and yet they were all traded for a guy who... Probably is maybe as good as a healthy Alford? f***ing ghastly trade. I can defend the Stroman trade, I liked the Hudson and Sogard trades, but this one? f***ing indefensible.

Biagini is easily replaceable

Sanchez is literally the worst pitcher in baseball

There's maybe a 2% chance Stevenson ends up as a useful player.

Derek Fisher has insane exit velocity and 70 grade speed. This was an amazing get for 3 superfluous pieces and I liked Stevenson a lot.

The people calling this trade indefensible really don't know what they're talking about.

Derek Fisher > Clint Frazier

quote this, cowards

Done

But, to be clear, I'd have also taken Frazier for this package pretty easily.

No one is as smart as you Boxy, but an average exit velocity of 90.5 would place him tied for 80th in the league. You're also talking about a small sample size. Sure the league average is 87.5 so he's above league average, but I don't think I would call it insane. He's struck out 35.3% of the time if we're going to look at that small sample size. You just called him awesome get for 3 marginal pieces in an earlier post....we shall see.

Relievers like Biagini emerge from the scrap heap every year for literally nothing, Sanchez also f***ing sucks, you can't bank on his potential every goddamn year when nothing happens

These guys are non-factors

EDIT: Why do guys on this board still give a s*** about Aaron Sanchez, he's literally the worst starter in baseball this year. This is absolutely mind boggling and all of you doing so should be ashamed of yourselves

You're no better than the Blue Jays fan page.

lol... Pist! ;)

None of those 3 guys really had any value. We could have gotten a few PTBNLs for them individually, but instead we packaged them for a guy with impact tools.

Whether he translates that into MLB success is another story, but I'd sure take a flier on a guy like that than a few no name rookieball lottery tickets.

And with exit velocity, I'm talking power. He's got plenty of power to go with great wheels. He's not Teoscar Hernandez.
