Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 Indians: Puig, Franmil Reyes, Logan Allen Padres: Taylor Trammell Reds: Bauer Cant see that...Franmil and Logan Allen for Trammell makes no sense unless the Mets love him
Superdood Verified Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 Queue everyone losing their minds over the return the Indians are getting for Bauer that we didn't get for Stroman lol

flafson Verified Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 I guess the Indians don’t need Smoak anymore.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 I guess the Indians don’t need Smoak anymore. Damn. Someone in Twitter just offered me Nick Sandlin or Oscar Gonzalez for Smoak.

Slade Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 I still think what we got is perfectly fine. I think we are probably missing another lower tier piece.
fireballW Verified Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 I still think what we got is perfectly fine. I think we are probably missing another lower tier piece. Could work out great but still clearly should have been better. I'd put Atkins in the 20-35 percentile when it comes to trading. Totally underwhelming but at least not Padres bad.
5ToolPhenom Verified Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 Yeah, I'm hoping for the best and hopefully the 2 pieces pan out and are important pieces of the rebuild, but it doesn't change the fact that they should've been able to get more. I like the drafting that this front-office has been able to do, but they leave a lot to be desired when it comes to trades.

When the deal went down I think I said that we should have been able to get a Kilome/Smith/Szapucki in the deal as a third piece, and that probably would have been a fair trade. I stand by that now.

We can hang our hopes on that. Wont change that they still should have got another piece, but someday we may be loving this trade.

I stand by that now. I think that my biggest issue with the trade. Even if they added one or two lower level players who will have a very small chance at success, it would make it more tolerable in most people's eyes. I have a hard time believing BVW wouldn't give up one more piece low down on their propsect depth chart.
AintNoThang Verified Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 I don't think the Padres trade is as bad as some are making it. I know Trammell is having a down year, but he's only 21. He was a top 20 propsect last and still a top 30 on MLB and Fangraphs and has a FV of 55. I think Allen is way overrated and he's still only a backend top 100 guy. I'd rather trade him, a poor defensive corner outfielder, and a 40 ranked Padres propsect for the chance of him bouncing back and turning into a potential star center fielder.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 At a work conference. I was not able to pay too much attention to the game. Was Smoak not in the line-up because a deal is in the works, or just off day? Would he have gone in if Drury hurt or they needed a PH? Thanks

Thanks I think they said something about trade talks really heating up around him, but nothing imminent. I'm sure he would have played if necessary.

Not sure how to properly embed a Twitter post on here. But apparently I should be a MLB GM. Pretty much said exactly what I did.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 So the Rangers just got Kolby Allard, who is almost certainly a better prospect than Anthony Kay, for Chris Martin, who is having a good year and likely has a few more years of control but is a f***ing 33 year old reliever with like, zero full MLB seasons on his resume. Stroman trade looks much worse right now lol. Allard, hot damn that's a good trade.

Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 I think you guys are forgetting this is for friggin Chris Martin lol who is 33 years old. It really does prove just how bad Atkins is though if guys like Chris Martin are getting the Braves #5 prospect. Ouch, that hurt. Right... Alex, lol.
ItsMeMario Verified Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 Allard, hot damn that's a good trade. Do you even know baseball ? Allard is f***ing s*** ... he has average stuff and throw 89 mph fastball he is a command guy 5th starter at best he is not even top 20 braves prospect They didn't gave Bryse Wilson they gave Kolby Allard, nevermind where he was drafting he is still crap, game evolve
ItsMeMario Verified Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 Allard is top 5 Braves prospect ? What year is this ???? 2014 ?

Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 Yeah there's nothing too exciting about Allard, vanilla prospect who projects to be a back end starter or depth arm. Martin has little track record but is on fire right now. The Braves have so much young pitching but need the immediate pen help, can easily part with Allard to upgrade their late innings group.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 So Taylor Trammell (despite having a brutal season) is still ranked as the 30th best prospect in baseball by MLB.com My question is....if we traded Stro for Trammell and Scott Moss.....what would the board be excited? happy? pissed? indifferent? Is that a better package than SWR + Kay?
