Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2019 Posted June 4, 2019 Is Manoah a potential underslot guy, at least? Could the Jays save a little cash and go overslot later for a guy like Spencer Jones? f*** you
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2019 Posted June 4, 2019 I'm really interested to see who the Dodgers pick. Edit: It's Hoese.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2019 Posted June 4, 2019 I could see Spencer Jones going to Arizona here. They have the $$ to pull it off.
jmomcc Verified Member Posted June 4, 2019 Posted June 4, 2019 I thought it was the worst pick so far. And I love everything the Rays do. I literally thought it was good because the rays did it whch isn;t the best process I'll admit.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2019 Posted June 4, 2019 f*** you What? You don't think the Jays will be saving any money with Manoah? You're probably right.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2019 Posted June 4, 2019 Lol.. Dude, you know less than nothing about any of this. Shut the f*** up and dry your little tears.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2019 Posted June 4, 2019 What? You don't think the Jays will be saving any money with Manoah? You're probably right. You're not allowed to want Spencer Jones because I called dibs, and made 147,000 posts on him
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2019 Posted June 4, 2019 Jays are taking Saini next. Is this your prediction or a spoiler?
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2019 Posted June 4, 2019 Dude, you know less than nothing about any of this. Shut the f*** up and dry your little tears. Calm down slant fin.
Ray Verified Member Posted June 4, 2019 Posted June 4, 2019 Full quote by Sanders on Manoah. “Alek’s a big guy, but he’s tremendously athletic. He’s done a great job getting himself into really good shape. He hauled a lot of innings this year and maintained extremely high-level stuff from wire to wire. That’s something that a big, durable frame will help him do. We’re certainly confident in Alek’s athleticism and work ethic. We see him as a big, strong, durable guy that has the chance to take the ball every five days in a major-league rotation.” Leave it to the media to misconstrue the tone of a statement.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2019 Posted June 4, 2019 Calm down slant fin. Do you work in the plumbing/heating industry?

Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2019 Author Posted June 4, 2019 I literally thought it was good because the rays did it whch isn;t the best process I'll admit. For as well run of an organization as the Rays are, they honestly don't have that amazing of a track record picking in the first round. Since 2010 their best pick by far was Blake Snell in 2011 who went 52nd in the supplemental round, then you have Ryne Stanek in 2013 at 29, with Brendan McKay looking like a solid option but the book is still out on him, Liberatore, McClanahan and their most recent ones.

Lmao, this is perfect. Literally took out the minimal substance in that short quote and just left the generic cliche fluff as the headline.
Ray Verified Member Posted June 4, 2019 Posted June 4, 2019 Alek Manoah 2019: 14 GS, 1.91 ERA, 11.39 K/9, 2.10 BB/9, 6.01 H/9, 0.29 HR/9, 2 CGSHO He was even better in the Cape Cod League against legitimate college competition and also won Big-12 Pitcher of the Year.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted June 4, 2019 Posted June 4, 2019 Cubs take Malone from my sources. stupid sources

Plat Verified Member Posted June 4, 2019 Posted June 4, 2019 This is the board's immediate reaction to the Jordan Groshans pick last year. This post isn't meant to throw anyone under the bus, as there are a lot of good posters among that group. I get it, the draft is fun and you get attached to some of these guys because you've been reading some promising reports over the last few weeks/months, it's all in the heat of the moment. But let this post serve as a reminder that every team has been scouting these kids for years, they've held private workouts, they know substantially more than we do. We do this every single year, despite not being surprised by the overreactions, maybe we can learn to accept that we truly know nothing about these guys and trust the professionals who have built an excellent farm system top to bottom. Every single year someone goes apeshit by the Jays not picking their guy, not knowing if there are health issues, signability concerns, or if the guy that was picked by the team is truly what they consider BPA. The Raptors draft quote doesnt even make sense, the Raptors have been drafting well under Masai.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2019 Posted June 4, 2019 Reading between the lines, it sounds like Manoah is definitely not Sanders' guy. Reading the line, it sounds like Manoah is definitely Sanders' guy.

Laika Community Moderator Posted June 4, 2019 Posted June 4, 2019 He throws 99 and doesn't walk many. End convo...it's what you look for in a pick He's a tank and I like the mechanics a lot. This isn't your older brother's Blue Jays 11th overall 6'6" college right handed pitcher pick

I'll just try to defend myself a little and say that Libertore and Singer were still widely considered as the best players available when it was our time to pick and are doing very well in pro ball so far. But I totally agree. These teams seen 10's of thousands of $ sending out scouts all over the country and have a ton more intel than the general public. They're more equipped to make decisions than basically all of us, except if your front office is incompetent when it comes to the draft. Which our front office seems to be the farthest thing from being.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2019 Posted June 4, 2019 Harold Reynolds is like the handicapped kid you have to hang out with because it would be mean not to.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2019 Posted June 4, 2019 Chances Oakland takes a 2 sport athlete? lol
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2019 Posted June 4, 2019 From a couple days ago vs. Duke. That slider looks pretty nasty. And hit 96 on pitch 101. This dude is f***ing massive. To me, he looks really athletic and coordinated for his size. I like the pick! To bad he's not a TE in the NFL. I don't like his mechanics at all, but what do I know.
