Jays got their Manoah...

I don't mind the pick, after looking at various scouting reports and how Fangraphs views him.

I trust everyone will be pushing for Will Holland for our next pick? I think at this point there's no point in hoping for Mr. Jones as he's not signing at this point with the Jays

College bat underslot, I'll pick one here shortly

Unless he's somehow hiding a hell of a lot of muscle in those videos, he's definitely overweight, and probably borderline obese.

This looks "borderline obese" to you LOL?

Does he rhyme with Bill Rolland?

He'd be a good pick at this point I'd think. Will Robertson seems to have some easy power. At some point we need to take Jake Sandford, tons of pop and comes from the same town as Sidney Crosby and Nathan MacKinnon so obviously destined for greatness.

this board is hilarious, anytime a guy is a on the bulkier side he is labeled morbidly obese. I read through the comments on here and expected the guy to look like Prince Fielder. There's gotta just be a ton of fatties on here that are ready to pounce on any opportunity to call someone else fat to make them feel better about themselves

Holy f***, I didn't really look at him before but he's just a naturally big dude. He's also 6'6".

You're probably bang on, that guy is no where near obese.

Also, thanks, I'll gladly take prime CC Sabathia who churned out like 250 ace level innings every year into his 30s if that's the comparison we're all going for.

The more I analyze this pick, the more I love it. Manoah could easily be the best pitcher in this draft.

Anyone remember Jon Harris? LMAO

Zeuch too

That's who I thought of when I read the scouting report. Big, heavy sinking fastball, good control. Zeuch's a little slimmer, listed at 6'7 225 lbs.

So, this is extremely rough (and probably too optimistic), but among pitchers who have pitched a decent career since 2008 with Manoah's size and command, it seems to compare with Mat Latos's profile earlier in his career (estimating FV grades with PitchF/X, plus size and command). Nowhere near exact, but that's one name that pops up.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Apart from both of them being tall, I don't see the comparison at all. Manoah isn't a sinkerballer, his fastball actually misses bats...and his slider is an actual wipeout pitch (which again, Zeuch does not possess). One guy is a pitch-to-contact type, the other is just a straight power arm. The K-rates reflect on this.

We should be ecstatic if Manoah turns into pre-pumpkin Mat Latos, which was all throughout his controllable years.

Joba?

I know he was only 6'2" but he was thick, with a power arm. Just came to mind is all.

I based this solely on size and this from the MLB.com write up on Manoah 'He's physically imposing on the mound and works in the mid-90s with heavy sink and tough plane on his fastball.'

I'm happy to hear his fastball and slider are expected to be a lot better than Zeuch's. Why'd we draft Zeuch again?

McGuire, Jenkins, Harris, Zeuch are the generic stuff guys. "4 solid offerings". Stay away from those guys in the early rounds. I want explosive or "projectable" in the earlier rounds. Jays seems to have gone with that so far in 2019.

Guys can always develop pitches. You want spin rate, velo and some semblance of command, ideally, with solid mechanics.

I should've prefaced that by saying specifically college guys with generic stuff I'd try to stay away from early. I think they're far closer to being what they are gonna be already.
