Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2019 Posted February 28, 2019 Your 2019 AL Cy Young award winner...
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2019 Posted February 28, 2019 My guess is even though this was probably in the works--Ken Giles imploding forced the Jays hand. Remember, Norris saved 28 games for the Cards last year (and 19 with the Angels in 2017)--closing is not foreign to him. What's your bet Giles is injured?
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2019 Author Posted February 28, 2019 Norris' numbers as a reliever the past two years:
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2019 Posted February 28, 2019 Norris has been pretty solid as a reliever. I like that the team has tried to prevent the bullpen from being a tirefire even in a non-competitive year.

What's your bet giles is injured? yeah that sounds exactly like our FO works...rash decisions are their MO...good point.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2019 Posted February 28, 2019 I like it. He's better than Axford and he's got late inning experience (if that matters).
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2019 Posted February 28, 2019 I like it. He's better than Axford and he's got late inning experience (if that matters). Solid signing, but I am offended that he used to play for Baltimore.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2019 Posted February 28, 2019 Given his experience as a starter I wonder if the team would consider using him as an opener.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2019 Posted February 28, 2019 a potential excellent trading chip if we get the 2018 1st half norris
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2019 Posted February 28, 2019 A minor league deal, nice. Would be great to add another arm to the pen to add some more depth. It's going to be a long year, I'd rather not watch the bullpen be a complete disaster every night.

If another vet is going to come dirt cheap I would def sign one and put a guy with options down in the minors. Plenty of these guys are going to get hurt.

He had no location or movement.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2019 Posted February 28, 2019 Nice signing on a minors deal for sure. Was a closer most of last year. Actually had him on my fantasy team last year for awhile lol.

BTS Community Moderator Posted February 28, 2019 Posted February 28, 2019 I don’t really understand why he’s signing a minor league deal
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2019 Posted February 28, 2019 I don’t really understand why he’s signing a minor league deal he's a clubhouse cancer?
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2019 Posted February 28, 2019 I don’t really understand why he’s signing a minor league deal Probably just procedural so the team can try to pass some guys through at a more opportune time.
jerb Verified Member Posted March 1, 2019 Posted March 1, 2019 Robert Murray Verified account @ByRobertMurray #BlueJays’ agreement with free-agent pitcher Bud Norris is a minor-league deal worth $3 million with an additional $1.25 million in incentives, sources tell The Athletic.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted March 1, 2019 Posted March 1, 2019 he's a clubhouse cancer? Yup. Not a fan of this one. Don’t care if he’s a solid reliever. Dude is a cancer and no team is going to want to deal with his s*** as a trade deadline rental.

Thaddeus Malice Verified Member Posted March 1, 2019 Posted March 1, 2019 Do we really want someone who hates Latinos on this roster?

Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted March 2, 2019 Posted March 2, 2019 I don’t really understand why he’s signing a minor league deal Presumably it is for roster flexibility during spring training.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted March 2, 2019 Posted March 2, 2019 I forgot about Bud Norris being a giant POS. A quick google search of “Bud Norris douche” changed my mind real quick on this signing. Not a fan at all of bringing him into the clubhouse. Hopefully he proves me wrong, but I doubt it

Not a good look. I hope Luciano is ready to be harassed. Latin and a rookie? Norris is going to have a field day.
